The Curtis Family in stickers

stickerfamily.jpg

So, is this adorable or what? Sophia made it for me for Mother's Day - rummaging through a box of old stickers we've had since she was a toddler.

Lots of inside jokes - I can't believe she managed to find something to characterize each of my children.

My oldest daughter Samantha is carrying a picnic basket because when she brings her family over on Sunday - with my six grandchildren - she always brings food to add to whatever I'm making.

My oldest son Josh is a contractor.
Matt is an actor and a waiter.
Ben is an opera singer and looks good dressed up - notice all the musical kids have notes hovering about.
Zach is a computer geek.
Sophia loves to cook.
Jonny is a goofball who loves to be a big brother to Justin (the youngest) They're playing ball with their Dad, who when things are well coaches their Challenger team
Maddy loves watermelon and singing.
Jesse likes to load things into his dump truck and push it around the yard.
Daniel loves tractors and cowboys.

And I'm taking pictures of it all.

What a labor of love!

Inside she wrote:

Her children arise and call her blessed. Proverbs 31:28.

My Mother's Day actually started at 7:10 am with a knock on our hotel door at Virginia Beach (where we were guests for the Worldwide Challenger Little League Jamboree). It was Maddy, who'd been staying in the room next door (we split the four little brothers between us). She'd set her alarm early and gone downstairs and ordered breakfast for me - an omelet and pot of coffee and a tulip.

It doesn't get much better than that!

We went to the beach and then drove home for a terrific dinner cooked by the man who made this all possible :)

What was your Mother's Day like?

Love,

Barbara, my 7yo son was standing behind me looking at this picture and he said, "It should be The Curtis MOUSEhold!" LOL.

[That is hilarious!]

I received my gift on Saturday, a locket keychain for my little one's picture. On Sunday, church, then to my sister's house for Mother's day with my parents, her husbands mom and grandma. Gretchen (my 11 month old) was super fussy and wouldn't calm down. We left early, went to urgent care and she has an ear infection. Poor baby girl! My husband said it wouldn't be a special day without a trip to the doctor. On Father's day last year we had to get her bilirubin levels checked, on his birthday she was admitted to Children's Mercy for a fever (she was only 6 weeks old)....hopefully this is not a tradition she has started! :D

I am definitely at the point in my life where the kids are old enough to really make Mother's Day fabulous (without any help, even financially, from Dad). The day began with homemade cinnamon scones & coffee served in bed before church (with a flower on the tray too!) A huge gift basket filled the my favorite things - Dr. Laura's new book, hair clips, a tea pot, a gift card for dangly earrings, dark chocolate and a hand made ceramic tray! I also got a clean house & a foot massage (all I ever ask for). We all attended church together & came home to a fabulous backyard brunch before watching the A&E version or Pride & Prejudice. A practically perfect day.

BUT...it got even better when the next day we were chosen to adopt a 6 week old baby girl. We fly out to TN on Saturday to meet here - so excited and an amazing Mother's Day gift! You can read more about the story on my blog - www.bethlambdin.net.

That is too cute! I love it.

Beth, congratulations on your new baby girl! That had to be the best mother's day present EVER!

Mother's Day at our house started out with my husband getting up with Matthew in the morning, allowing me a few more minutes of shut-eye. Then they had a chocolate pastry waiting for me for breakfast! I love chocolate!! Unfortunately, the rest of the day was hard. My husband's grandmother had not been doing well for a while now and had been getting weaker considerably faster the past week. She joined our Lord on Mother's Day in the afternoon at the age of 94. We all got to see her in the morning. She led a beautiful and fruitful life. She lives on in our hearts.

oh i love the picture and am so glad you blogged it! how creative!!

congratulations on the beautiful new baby girl Beth!

Sorry to hear about your husband's grandmother Ria, but it sounds like she led a very long and love filled life. ((hugs))

my mommys day was filled with sleeping in (a treasure with a small infant in the house!) then having my 3 small kids rushing into my room first thing in the morning with homemade cards and a few gifts daddy had picked for them to give, a sorely needed jewelry box! (as the small cardboard box i had was falling apart) and then the biggest surprise, my hubby surprised me with TWO Hummels!!! (i still cant believe he did that) i've had my eye on them for years, but could never justify the money. Having a place onbase that sells them a bit discounted and he couldn't justify NOT getting them. (i am still getting over this!)

and the best part, i check my email to find this adorable mother's day greeting he made with the 3 older kids while i was sleeping:

i love my son dinosaur roaring lol! This will certianly be treasured more than the Hummels or the jewelry box. :)

On Saturday I was kind of frazzled getting a quiche baked and muffins made for Sunday.
My dad and brother bought English treats and brought along a box of teapots and cups to have a High Tea in our church fellowship room following the morning service. It was really fun. I got to sit down most of the time and even relax and eat slowly instead of barely eating anything like I normally do with 4 littles to tend to.
I got a pot of pink mini roses, which are my favorite, and a simple sweet card from my husband. My oldest, 5, drew me a picture with flowers and wrote out Mother's Day on it with directions from me.
I also was able to save a piece of quiche for our Pastor's wife (she had never tasted any before) who is undergoing fertility treatments right now. It was nice to pull her in and give her something special to share God's blessings!
