Do you live in a Muslim nation?

Obama has now specifically said that "Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation" and - a few days later "We are one of the largest Muslim countries in the world" (sans teleprompter).

In contrast to the campaign, where he played up his years growing up with white grandparents, claimed to be a Christian, and branded as hate speech any reference to his middle name - throughout his mideast tour he has been unabashedly capitalizing on his Muslim roots - the same Muslim roots I researched and reported on during the campaign (see my 238 entries at Campaign 2008), only to be attacked by his supporters who said they were lies.

When Barak Obama assumed the office of President of the United States I committed to pray for him, and I do. I also decided to love him and refuse to criticize him, but when he says it's important to note that "if you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, we'd be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world" . . . WHAT?! Here we go again.

Though it's not difficult to manipulate numbers and make them lie, I can't figure out a single way to twist the figures so that the president's statement even vaguely resembles truth. Check it out for yourself below.

Wikipedia lists statistics on general population as well as Muslim population, and the Wikipedia information matches the stats on several other Internet sites. There are 194 countries in the world (195 if you count Taiwan); Wikipedia lists 175.

Of those 175

* The United States has the third largest population, behind China and India
* 124 countries have a higher percentage of Muslims than the U.S.
* Only 51 have a lower percentage of Muslims than the U.S.
* The U.S. ranks 30th in the actual number of Muslims -- because our population is huge. Many countries boast entire populations smaller than our individual cities.
* 19 countries are 90% or higher Muslim
* 59 countries are more than 20% Muslim
* The U.S. is .8% Muslim (yes, point eight)

So why would our president make such an obviously false statement? I don't know. But since I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and think the best possible, I choose to believe that the only reason he would lie about our nation is because he hopes that identifying us with enemies will bring peace to the world.

It won't.

God's Word offers the only way to peace. "When a man's ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him." (Prov. 16:7) Numerous passages in the Old Testament prove that principle also true for nations; God gave Israel peace every time they obeyed him.

Conversely, Isaiah 60:12 tells what happens to nations who reject him. "For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; those nations shall be utterly laid waste." God classifies identifying with or serving any god but him as rejecting him; there is only One True God, and Allah isn't him.

Do you think it pleases the Lord for our president to identify our nation with a false god? Or does that frighten you as much as it does me?

Why do those words "utterly laid waste" keep scrolling through my brain?

I grew up in Brunei (from 1978 to 1990), a small Muslim country in South East Asia. My dad still works there as an architect. I think that if they heard Obama say America is one of the largest Muslim countries in the world, they would probably think he's crazy. I had friends who went to Mecca during the Ramadan and I bet they'd say there weren't many Americans in that pilgrimage. My Indonesian friends would probably think Obama is patronizing them. Bah! Politics!

Wow. . .great post. Yes, it does concern me that Obama would identify the U.S. with a false God. . even if his motives were peaceful. ..it's not truthful, and when you separate truth from anything it immediately becomes an agenda to something else. What that "something else" maybe is yet to be discovered I'm afraid. But to use his Christian roots when he needs them and then turn around and use his Muslim ones when convenient without including the other half of his heritage in either instance is troubling. I agreed in my heart to pray for him no matter what. So I will. This is great info. to help me direct my prayers! Thanks!

Whatever his reasons, one thing is for sure, this man has absolutely no sense of the Truth. I think though, that it is less because of some diabolical notion of power on his part, than simply the way the people that he is working for operate. Those people aren't the voters. They are the underworld lefties that have replaced the mob in Chicago politics. I have never felt that we will ever know who Obama is. He says whatever needs to be said at the moment. He has no sense of tact, purpose, or any core that I can see.

I feel that there has to be a final reckoning between Islam and Christianity. There is only one Truth. This is not a "war on Terror", this is a Christian nation, at least in definition, at the edge of an ancient divide. We know that Christ would have every Muslim in Heaven at the end of time, but they have to GO to Him. They can't have it both ways.

We know that Obama is just the "Persona du jour", and we aren't the Muslim nation that he says we are. We know that he isn't the Christian that he campaigned as. If we are the Christian nation that the Founding Fathers intended, and Obama is the Muslim that someone has decided is the best image for him to project, we have a serious divergence of goals for the future of this country. He is going to have his hands full though, because his policies totally fly in the face of the fundamental precepts of Islam.

I don't think it's really much of an issue at this time, because next week he may be a Mormon or a Scientologist, but it does bear thinking about as we go through the volatile times that we know must come.

I just pray that somewhere out there a true leader arises to lead us through that time, if it comes.

I agree, whatever happens, we need to pray for our country and that poor, confused man in the White House.
