Elizabeth Mitchell - traditional children's tunes

I've told you before that I'm a big fan of Indie music - thanks to my older kids who have generously shared their favorites with their momma.

So I stumbled on this beautiful singer today: Indie Children's Music. Who knew?

She has three albums at Amazon. Look for the Listen to Sample button to hear a bit of every track. Simply beautiful! I've added them to my Wish List.

Love,

I've been having computer troubles lately so I haven't been able to comment on some of your past posts, but I first wanted to say how glad I am that Zach is ok after his recent accident and really appreciated his guest post too!

Also, I've been a big Elizabeth Mitchell fan for a while now and Lisa Loeb has a few good CDs out too. Our absolute favorite right now is called Songs for Wiggleworms. I find myself singing these songs throughout the day and don't even care.

I absolutely love the "You Are My Little Bird" album. It is perfect music for my 2 1/2 year old daughter that I don't mind hearing over and over and over. And it is so much better than anything Elmo sings. We used to call my daughter a little bird and the album just seems to suit her. (I think it's better than the other two.)

"Three Little Birds" will always be linked to my favorite drive home from my parents' house - late at night with all three of us singing while my infant son slept away under the glowing winter moon. We stumbled on to it at the library but I had to have a copy to keep. My aunt used to work at a Montessori school and she told me they played the CD during nap/rest time. It's in my top 3 children's albums.

My top lullaby album is "Lullabies for Sleepy Eyes" by Susie Tallman. Her "Classic Nursery Rhymes" CD is well done and fun to listen to. It has renditions of "Wynkyn, Blynkyn and Nod" and "The Owl and the Pussy Cat", as well as many familiar nursery rhymes. She mixes in different styles and voices with each one - who knew Hickory Dickory Dock done to a rapping beat would work so well?

We have some of this, as well as some Lisa Loeb's children's music as well.
