Lemon juice every morning - great health resource

Hmmm. One of those cases where my blog is like my conscience. Here I am, sick for the second time in six weeks and wondering Why????

When it occurs to me that I used to brag about how lemon juice every morning kept me healthy.

So when did I stop taking it? And why?

All I know is that I am sick of being sick. My lemon routine is On Again. Here's what I wrote in January 2008:

lemon%20juicer.jpg

This is now the hot item in our kitchen - an electric juicer I recently bought from Amazon. A couple months ago I would have thought it was a completely unnecessary waste of money. Now I give thanks for finding something under $15 that has helped to dramatically improve the quality of our lives.

That's because at least four Curtises are now hooked on starting the day with the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon in a glass of warm water. You should have seen us all struggling with the lemons before - not to mention the pitiful results of our fervent squeezing.

Why lemon? Check out these benefits:

*Cleanses the digestive system.

*Relieves symptoms of indigestion such as heartburn, bloating and belching.

*Controls constipation and diarrhea by eliminating waste more efficiently.

*Good Source of Vitamin C.

*Enhances the beauty of your skin, rejuvenating it from within.

*Cleanses and aids in eliminating waste in the liver.

Some claim that drinking lemon juice eliminates the need for deodorant. And lemon juice is a great astringent and hair rinse.

We're buying lots of bags of lemons from Costco now. Makes me long for our old lemon tree in Petaluma - but that was before I knew how valuable lemons are. So now when I use our little juicer each morning, I am grateful we found this really easy way to boost our health.

I made it through two winters without any illness - even when six members of our family had strep a few weeks ago. I am convinced that the lemon juice - along with losing weight - has kept me in vibrant health.

I've been trying to get Sophia and Maddy to add this to their daily routine - their immune systems seem so weak - constantly battling sore throats, sinusitis. strep. Not good for singers. They tend to be so busy, burning the candle at both ends. And since they're eating on the fly, though they don't eat much junk food, their diets could be better. Yesterday I got Maddy to drink a glass of milk with whey by telling her her brothers use it every day while they're away at school.

This morning they both came downstairs looking so haggard I began my pitch - and guess what? They both drank a glass of warm water/lemon juice. I am so happy - and will definitely let you know whether we start seeing some results.

Btw, many of you have discovered that you can get the best prices on things like whey and yeast and health products (including gluten-free) through amazon. Whatever is part of your regular regimen, please check out Amazon prices by clicking on the amazon box in my bottom left sidebar.

I've been buying everything I can at Amazon since long before I had a blog - it just saves so much time and money. For lots of things, shipping is free for orders over $25 - just remember to click on Super Saver shipping. You too can save taxes and gas while supporting this site!

If you want even more health benefits...add a spoonful of local honey to that mix!! SO YUMMY! It's so good it's like a treat! And local honey is amazing for allergies. FYI, the water can't be more than 110-115 or that kills the natural benefits of the local honey. Keep it a little less than that and you're good to go!

[Sandy - you are so right! I just started taking local honey yesterday when my neighbor - whose bees buzz around our clover - gave me a jar and told me that local honey works on allergies because the bees are making it from local pollen. It makes so much sense how God designed this!

I will eat my honey separately though - it feels so decadent eating a spoonful.]

It is decadent! LOL
I love mine on warm, fresh bread with some butter. Oh my. Another reason why I love baking bread.
God's design IS amazing! My allergies are better with local honey then they ever were with prescription medication.

How are you feeling this morning Barbara? Has your cold gotten any better? I sure hope so!!

Barbara, I am so sorry you have been under the weather! Thank you for the health suggestions, they are going in my binder! Also, as an FYI: Our family has found some natural things that we really like. My Dh says that colostrum pills boost his overall immune system. For colds ( and sometimes to prevent them) we use zinc lozenges at the first sign of a sore throat. Also, a product called: " Berry well" that has echinacea, elderberry, raw honey, and propolis. Also, vitamin C. We use these 3 things throughout the day, and they help us tremendously. The " Berry well" is available at www.beeyoutiful.com I believe that sambucol is a knock off brand, but possibly not as potent. www.luckyvitamin.com has a knock off brand as well. I think it's called honey aparies, or something like that.

Also, I don't know if your lemon juice stuff prevents stomach flu, but we have found that probiotics will do the trick. Kefir is a healthy way to get probiotics. They are good for many many things.

Feel better soon!
