Les Miserables - music resources
These are snippets from the musical Les Miserables - as performed by the Dream Cast on the 10th Anniversary. This is not the musical itself, but a concert with some interspersing of scenes from the stage production. I thought those reading along who haven't seen the musical might enjoy these. I am always awed by the skill of the writers in capsulizing the essence of the story in song:
The prison at Toulon (in the musical, we meet Javert as well as Valjean here), Valjean's miserable parole, and his meeting with the Bishop:
Valjean's Soliloquy - his crisis after the Bishop redeems him (this is not the Dream Cast, but an actual stage production):
The Thenardiers (warning: profanity):
Fantine:
Jean Valjean wrestling with whether to reveal his identity:
Cosette:
You can buy the Dream Cast CD or DVD at Amazon.
The DVD is available at Netflix.
Also, save up your money to see Les Miserables when it comes to a town near you.

I only needed to show my husband the first and mention it was avliable on dvd or cd and he said, "Get it!" lol! I am waiting for it to arrive. I watched the first two and the one with Fantine with my girls...they were enraptured! (as was I!) We had a very interesting conversation about redemption, forgiveness, sin, bitterness, anger...etc provoked by the first two clips. When Fantine came on, my 6 year old said, "she is BEAUTIFUL!" :)
I skipped the one with the profanity (thank you for the warning as my 6 year old wanted to see it!) and I didn't watch the last two as I haven't come that far in my book yet.
I'm REALLY enjoying it!!!
