Not as sick as yesterday - hopefully healthy tomorrow
I'm feeling a little better. Only a little. But beginning to see the light.
Following my regimen of Cold Zapper, local honey, Vitamin C, Dayquil, Nyquil, Vicks Vaporub and lots of water. Oh, and some leftover amoxicillin I found in the medicine cabinet.
I know, I know. . . it's not totally organic, but when I'm sick I get desperate. Desperate to get well. So desperate that I will do ANYTHING to be able to get out of bed and get moving.
Something in that arsenal worked. Today my sinuses no longer hurt and my head doesn't feel like it will explode. Instead I feel weak and am coughing up a storm. And very Woe Is Me.
Things brightened for a while when I talked with my friend Ann this morning. She was supposed to visit, but I called to tell her I was sick and we ended up having a long visit oner the phone. Friends can make you feel stronger.
But then I was back to coughing and blah.
It's a good thing that the Downzers have gone to Easter Seals Camp for 10 days. Though I was planning on some big writing projects or sightseeing with whatever family members are available, I guess I can give thanks that I can be sick and recuperate without the extra responsibility.
Things are looking up a little though, An hour ago I seemed to turn a corner. Still coughing, but actually was able to initiate a conversation with Zach and Maddy.
And I found out they still love me, See, one of the things that happens when I get sick is I think no one will love me anymore because I'm so miserable.
Is this just me, or does anyone else feel this way?
Tripp brought home some Robitussin for my cough, and I will probably do the Vicks on the Feet thing, and I'm guessing I will feel much better tomorrow. I hate being sick. It threatens my identity.
Anyway, the plus side is that I have gotten way ahead in Les Miserables. I can't put the book down. Will write my weekly review later tonight or tomorrow morning.
More than anyone wanted to know, I'm sure. Pray for me to get back to my outwardly-focused self :)

Oh, Barbara. I knew something was up when you weren't posting like you usually do. Get better real soon. We miss you.

Barbara, I am so sorry to hear you are not feeling well, and hope you feel better soon. However I did want to warn you. Left over antibiotics are never a good idea. If you cannot take a full regimen, you need to not take them at all. Just taking a couple can help to create (with in you) an antibiotic resistant strain of whatever bacteria is affecting you... This is why when people have viruses we don't give them antibiotics, because it won't help and it gives fuel to other bacteria for antibiotic resistant strains. You might want to contact your physician and let him/her know that you took some and maybe they can give you a prescription to finish out a correct dose. BTW this is also the same reason why you should always finish a complete regimen of antibiotics, even after the symptoms have ceased. God Bless. ~Sandy (EMT-I)
[Hi Sandy - you are absolutely right. But I do have a full regimen on hand - which I should have noted.]

Get well soon Barbara! I'll be praying for you:).
Thanks for the tip in your other post about the local honey and allergies. My hubby has allergies in a bad way and I mentioned this as a solution. He perked right up and was very willing to try a spoonful or two:).
I'll keep you posted on how it goes...
