Parenting with purpose - now more than ever!

mother praying.jpg

Hi Barbara,

I am bookmarking your blog so I can visit often. I have been one to avoid anything political and I'm embarrassed to admit that. After reading your post for June 11 I just felt really convicted to change.

I don't know how I happened to stumble upon your blog but I will say that the image you included with the day's post caught my attention too. Can you tell me what it is called? I would love to find a print of that lovely photo.
Thanks so much

I am so sorry, I do not know where I picked up that image - which I originally ran at my blog on Mother's Day 2006.

I did a check at allposters.com and art.com and couldn't find it. Also when I google mother praying and check for images, my blog comes up with that picture but I can't find it anywhere else on the first few pages.

If anyone does ever find it, please let me know so I can credit it properly and let others know where to find it.

As far as feeling embarrassed for not being politically involved, please know that our first priority is being mothers. Readers here know that I advocate some level of awareness about what is going on politically - especially in these days when our traditional form of government is being rapidly dismantled.

That said, there is a fine line we must walk between being politically informed and not getting discouraged.

What I'm hoping is that we will respond to the current political situation not with hopelessness and despair, but by embracing our calling as moms and taking our jobs even more seriously.

We really need to parent with purpose, precision and prayer. For my part - now that so many of you are on board with realizing that the future of our country is at stake - I intend to redouble my efforts to "unburden, enlighten, encourage and empower" parents who are charged with building the next generation.

Love,

Thank you! I have been very burdened about our nation these last couple of years, but more so now than ever.

I have that same print, framed, with the scripture quotation: "He shall hear my voice," Psalm 55:17. I picked it up several years ago, I believe at the Family Christian Store, but the image is not attributed to anyone.
