I try to keep up with your posting, but somehow you got this one past me. Really beautiful post, Barbara! I'm going to share this one.

Thanks for posting this, is so wonderful! I was wondering though how they come up with this number of $160K. Is it the average amount American parents spend, or what's actually needed to raise a child? Diaper expenses can be decreased by using cloth diapers and does it include things like preschool? We have 2 children and are pregnant with our 3rd. It seems like our kids don't cost that much, because we choose not to overindulge them with gifts and pricey vacations and things that other parents may choose. Thanks for passing this on Barbara. :)

Yeah, I am not sure where they come up with those numbers. I think they ought to stop calculating this stuff... Many of us bigger families have hand-me-down toys, clothes, kids sharing rooms, skip preschool- homeschool and save money, even use internet college classes to save money... Not to mention all the creative ways that God gives money and the material needs to those that he gives children to... I remember walking out of the store more than once after my 4th baby was born, just laughing at how God kept giving me crazy deals on diapers and other needs.......

I hope the $ amount won't scare anyone out of having or adopting another baby... God is pretty creative in the ways he cares for us!
