Waking up at night? Can't sleep? Natural sleep aids that work

When Sophia was in high school, she began having trouble with sleep. We asked her doctor for ideas on how to handle it and she suggested Melatonin:

For as long as I can remember, I have also recommended and used Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc. I pop 6-8 of these when I can't sleep, recite the 23rd Psalm and drift away:

Another natural sleep aid is lavender. When I spent the night in the hospital with Jonny last year, I couldn't fall asleep and didn't have my calcium, but found this in the hospital gift shop:

I keep this by my bed and use it now whenever I wake up at night.

Feel free to add any other ideas in the comments.

Love,

I often wake up very restless in the middle of the night. I take my Rosary off the nightstand, and start praying, asking my guardian angel to finish it when I fall asleep. I always fall asleep by the second decade.

Thanks for these ideas! I love coming to your website and learning things I didn't even realize I had been wanting to learn. I have had insomnia for months now--hopefully these ideas will help. I'll start with the 23rd Psalm tonight.
Thanks for all your words of wisdom!

I also use Valerian Root (or 'stinky pills' as we call them) as a natural sleep aid

I've been using this sleep balm for all of us for the last few weeks. Even Grae knows how to open the tin, rub his little hands around and pat it on his nose :) (he's 13 months old).
