Angel Food Ministries - new and improved! open to all! save big on groceries

IMG_4178.JPG

What a lovely greeting this morning!

This egg box was in my order from Angel Food this month.

I blogged about Angel Food last spring and gave it a try myself. But though the concept was admirable - food sold in box units for up to 50% saving - the end result left a lot to be desired as much of the contents were things I would not buy. Overprocessed and not that fresh.

In July I got an email from Round Hill Baptist EPIC Ministry - my local Angel Food distributor, promising that there had been changes made and asking me to give Angel Food another try.

IMG_4179-1.JPGI'm really glad I did. When I looked at the July Menu I was surprised that the offerings were so much fresher and more nutritious. For our family, I purchased four Signature boxes (30. each) and four meat boxes (23. each). It was a lot of food for 212. The fresh items were fresh and the items were coordinated to put together some good meals which were just the right size for our family (there are so many people home right now - the five winter kids plus Sophia, Zach and Matt - plus friends like Rose and this weekend Ben and Anna coming home).

Anyway, I can confidently recommend Angel Food for anyone who wants to give it a try, or anyone who was once disappointed to give them another chance. You no longer have to buy the Signature Box to order the Grilled Meats or Fresh Produce boxes. And they are offering a Frozen and Dry Mix Allergen--Free Box (no Peanuts, Soybeans, Milk, Eggs, Fish, Crustacea, Tree Nuts and Gluten (wheat, rye and barley). Great for children and adults!)

Thanks for posting this, Barbara. I looked into Angel Food last year but since they didn't allow fruit/veggie boxes to be sold on their own, it didn't make sense for our vegetarian family. I'm so glad they've made changes and I plan to use them in the future.

So glad you posted about this change, Barbara! We've made a lot of changes in our diet the past couple of years and all of the processed foods just didn't work for our family anymore. I'll definitely be trying them again! Just a note - I have had an absolutely wonderful experience with Angel Food as far as picking up the items, etc. Though I had my girls with me (perfectly able to help me carry a couple of bags), they asked over and over again if they could help me out to my car. Every single person there was just so *kind* in every way. I brought home a wonderful (contagious) attitude in addition affordable food!

I'm so glad you posted about this. I was just talking to my husband about the program and how I would love to use it to save some money on groceries so we can get ahead debt-wise, I just couldn't see it being good for our family with all the over processed food (I can't have sodium in my diet and so much of the contents had TOO much sodium in them). I'm excited to revisit the idea and check them out! Thanks for letting us know!

Doesn't the August menu look great. I am very excited that they allowed the change to happen too. I feel that families will be able to get specifically what they want. I also wanted to let you know there is a coupon still floating around. It is good for online ordering only, but still gives the customer 10% off a "signature box" of Angel Food. The coupon code is "10sig98" and is good until August 31st. http://www.angelfoodministries.com/menu_0908en.asp
That is also a link to the August menu. Hope it helps.
