Michelle Obama - as arrogant as Barack
[btw, to all the MichelleObamaWatch fanatics visiting here and accusing me of being racist, unchristian, etc - I would be criticizing ANY American leader who behaved in such an arrogant/elitist way while the rest of the country is struggling. Christlike leadership is humble and servantlike - not raising itself on the backs of the people.]
Does it almost seem as though Michelle Obama is determined to flaunt the customs of other countries - for what? to show off the arms our ObamaMedia swoons over?

[Yes, it does look photoshopped - but I grabbed the image from Reuters - see more here.]
Once again, while Barack is on government business, Michelle and the girls are touring in high style - yet another big tour at taxpayer expense. Extra planes, vehicles, accommodations, security details.
Doesn't it seem like aristocratic/elitist behavior to be touring Europe in such high style - with stylists in tow a la Madonna, carrying a 6000. handbag for a walk in the woods - while people at home are grappling with unemployment and no money for their own humble vacations?
And once again, the White House is refusing to release the costs for the enormous extra expense involved in Barack and Michelle's Great Adventure. This from the administration that promised transparency and above-board politics. Now spending like there's no tomorrow while killing the American dream for the citizenry.
What a pair of opportunists!

I know it's just the angle, but MO looks humongous in this picture. Even her arms look big (gasp!).

Something really odd about this photo and the sizes of
the individuals.
That said, it might be the most fashionable outfit ever
to grace the one's spouse.

I thought the same thing - this must be photo shopped. Michelle looks like an Amazon ....

I may not agree with her politics or her husband but I think she looks great. God has made her a tall, powerful, beautiful woman. I sometimes don't like her fashion choices but this simple yellow dress looks pretty good to me.
[You're missing the point - or two points:
1) Our press touts her as the greatest fashion icon the world has ever known - and billed this Russia trip as "Michelle brings glamor to Russia." Very condescending and inappropriate.
2) Michelle refuses to conform to expected protocol. It is highly disrespectful for her to dress in a sleeveless sheath in Russia, where women are expected to dress more conservatively. This has been a pattern with her and shows arrogance" "I can break the rules because my last name is Obama."
I did not say she wasn't beautiful - and there is something seriously wrong with people who see ANY sort of criticism of the Obamas as an attack worth defending. It's obvious when you don't listen to what the discussion is truly about]

If you read the caption to the photo. It says
"U.S. President Barack Obama (2nd L) and first lady Michelle Obama meet with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and his wife Clio (R) at Quirinale Palace in Rome July 8, 2009".
She is in Italy and that is the Italian president's wife. Based on the news pictures of her in that dress at the Capitoline Museums that day she seems to conform well with the fashions worn by many of the other leader's wives.
[My mistake on the place. I didn't realize they had arrived in Italy. Still, it's odd that she is dressed so informally for such an occasion.]

[Apparently, I am linked through a Michelle Obama fan club site - and evidently readers there make it a point to deflect any criticism of her without any context or rational thought process.]
What petty people and sad lives you must have to have nothing better to do than ridicule the Obamas.
Barbara- you're not exactly Carla Bruni yourself (you probably don't know who that is though!) Stop being poor sports and sour losers.
[typical liberal thinking: conservatives are stupid and uninformed: "You don't know who Carla Bruni is and I do. Nanananana!" Andrea, I do know who Carla Bruni is. And if that is the only basis of your superior thought process, that's pretty sad.
Criticizing our press or pointing out instances of the Obama's arrogant behavior is not ridicule.
Ridicule is what Sarah Palin is subjected to by Saturday Night Live and Maureen Dowd.]

I just stumbled upon you blog and i have to say I find it hard to believe that you are a christian and have accepted Jesus for you come across through your blog as very hateful and bitter.
[Maybe you need to read a little bit more here before making that judgment call.]

Alison, Jesus is Truth and Love. It is not love to not speak the truth. Barbara's blog is not hateful nor bitter. For us to not speak out when wrong is being done is the work of someone other than Jesus (if you know what I mean).

Hmm... These comments tie in with your quote from Le Miz about "moles pitying the people with their sun."
I find it interesting that Andrea would ridicule you using Ms. Bruni's name. Isn't Ms. Bruni and her husband, the French president, the same couple snubbed by the Obamas on their trip to Paris? Last I checked, when the president of the country you are visiting invites you to dinner, no matter who you are, you attend.
Keep up the postings:). You're sunshine in my day!

I think she looks beautiful, as well as appropriate.

First of all, I will say that I find Michelle Obama to be more of a class act than Hillary simply because she's not trying to be an unelected "co-president", and hasn't tried to move her offices into the West Wing the way Hillary did.
That said, disrespecting foreign heads of state with her attire is hardly professional behavior. Strutting her daughters around in designer clothes for the media to fawn over is rather questionable, too. Did they pay for those clothes themselves, or get them as special perks, the way that celebrities provide free advertising for designers by wearing their clothes on the red carpet? Either way, it's hardly a show of solidarity with struggling families all across America right now.
Finally, I have an issue with the fact that she has hired over 20 personal attendants at taxpayer expense, in the middle of a recession! http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/12652
That smacks of an elitist, entitlement mentality that I find offensive. She's trying to set a good example of how to "make sacrifices in hard times" by growing her own garden on the white house lawn. How about paying her own staff out of their own pockets?? They're millionaires from the proceeds of his books!
