Obama - doctors guilty of *gasp* tonsillectomies
As mother of 12 - 6 of whom NEEDED tonsillectomies - I can say from experience that tonsillectomies are not at all easy to come by but obtained only after jumping through MANY hoops.President Obama's Acute Case of Tonsillitis
Last night, perhaps in an attempt to give both parents and children nightmares, President Obama accused doctors who remove children's tonsils of performing the surgery for profit and not for the benefit of the patient. Unbelievably, this was the argument he used to explain that it is best that the federal government decide what treatments you get. Perhaps our President can be forgiven for making this ridiculous claim given his frustration that his sweeping health care plan has been faltering over the last few weeks.
His plan's near-collapse has been due, in large measure, to opposition from his own Party. Democratic leaders who worked hard to expand their majority by knocking off moderate Republicans with pro-life Democrats are now having difficulty trying to reconcile the divisions in their Party over the issue of taxpayer funding of abortion and line up behind the President. The President insists "this is not about him" (despite referring to himself over 60 times last night in his press conference).
Mr. President, it is about you. It is about your insistence on rushing health care legislation that will affect over 16 percent of our nation's economy. It is about you championing legislation in Congress that will ultimately shut down private businesses and the private health insurance market and take away options for all citizens. It is about your champions in Congress insisting that abortion is a part of "basic health care" and that taxpayers should pay for it.
To hear more about how abortion is currently part of President Obama's attempt to launch a government takeover of healthcare, join me tonight with Dr. James Dobson and an array of pro-life leaders from across the nation in a first of its kind Webcast. To sign up for the broadcast, go to http://stoptheabortionmandate.com/ .
Once again, Obama maligns yet another group of people - people like policemen who never expected to be targeted for simply performing the job they were trained for. So all these people are now under suspicion - impugned by our Glorious Leader. I guess the only people we can trust are people whose paychecks come from Uncle Sam.

It was the most absurd thing I've heard from him yet. I don't know what planet he's living on, but I've never had ANY surgeon push a surgery on my children. We typically have to jump through tons of hoops to make sure that we are taking the correct course of action.
I've dealt with 5 different surgeons in different specialties and NOT ONE has pushed surgery if another option existed.

As a child, I had strep throat at least twice every winter season and I begged the pediatrician to remove my tonsils. She never would allow the surgery and I suffered for years because of it.

Hmmm... that's the best answer he could come up with? Not procedures that are completely elective, like, say, sex change, or abortion, or IVF? Oh wait, those will be covered. (IVF will probably be the only infertility treatment covered... gotta keep up the supply of expendable children to experiment on.) And I certainly know of people who are pushed toward abortion and IVF by doctors (haven't done much reading on sex change operations).

I agree with YCW. In fact, 2 years ago my son needed his adenoids removed. I asked the surgeon if perhaps we could take his tonsils at the same time, and the surgeon said "NO, it's not necessary."
From the moms I talk to, tonsillectomies are hard to come by.
