Children's book recommendations
Just wanted to let you know that before I left Monday, I filled in the blanks in my Children's Books/Read Aloud section under Barbara's Picks at left.
Under many of them you will find a short synopsis or something indicating what makes the book exceptional. To anyone who thinks being a mother is not rocket science, I will say it takes a lot of intelligent discernment to sift through the deluge of meaningless or subversive stuff published for children today to find the treasures that will speak to your child's innocent fears, help them make sense of the world, and plant the seeds of strong character.
My recommendations under Barbara's Picks are linked to Amazon, where you can find used copies sometimes for pennies. But you can check your library. And Paperback Swap has hundreds of thousands of children's books - so it might be another incentive to join them to find the books you want for your kids.

I'm trying to figure out how we are supposed to think docs are money-grubbers now, but once HR 3200 goes into effect, we're supposed to trust these docs to "let" us decide about end-of-life care. Either they are money-grubbers or they aren't. I wrote an article here: http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-20147-Schuylkill-County-Independent-Examiner~y2009m8d14-Dont-worry--the-footcutters-wont-euthanize-you
