Van Jones resigns - not with grace

In a day and age when the once-respected Washington Post finds front-page news in a 1989 college thesis in which the Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate used the word fornicator and bemoaned the rise of homosexuality, working women and immorality, it does seem strange that they cast a benevolent glance over the radical anti-American backgrounds and outrageous public statements of some of Obama's growing company of un-nominated, unapproved, and unaccountable Czars.

Thirty-six and counting.

But today one has resigned:  the very troubled Van Jones, who as recently as February 11, 2009 at a lecture he gave in Berkeley answered a sincere question from a leftist about why the Democrats couldn't push through their agenda faster harnessed all the power of his Yale education to come up with this thoughtful reply:  "The answer to that is, they're a**holes."

Video here.

If you've noticed that the Internet discourse from the Left is most often completely puerile and empty of substance, well. . . . look to their leaders.  Ironically, the administration that represents itself as working towards nonpartisan politics has filled its leadership positions with some of the most radical, partisan and prejudiced people who could be found on the planet.  So today, though Van Jones has resigned, Obama's shadow government infrastructure is still stocked with plenty of others.

And note that Van Jones' resignation becomes a political, partisan call to arms:

"On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me," Jones, special adviser for green jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, said in a statement announcing his resignation just after midnight Saturday. "They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide."

He continued: "I have been inundated with calls -- from across the political spectrum -- urging me to 'stay and fight.' But I came here to fight for others, not for myself. I cannot in good conscience ask my colleagues to expend precious time and energy defending or explaining my past. We need all hands on deck, fighting for the future."

There were no lies and distortions - but a publicly available online record at his own website boasting of his radical past - member of the Communist party, participant in the Rodney King riots, etc.  And YouTube videos of his extreme comments on white people and Republicans.

But rather than I'm sorry and accept the consequences of my actions and words, he leaves his supporters with They're out to get us!  Stay angry!

When I think how Obama has squandered this golden opportunity to heal the racial wounds in this country - and how he has instead poured salt in them - I feel a lot of despair.

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live

in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin
but by the content of their character."

Martin Luther King, I Have a Dream, March on Washington - August 28, 1963

Okay, call me crazy Barbara but near the middle of all this Van Jones news I wondered whether this was all set up to distract conservatives. Van Jones is such a blatant radical I have to wonder what the Obama administration was thinking. Really! So the latent-conspiracy theorist in me thought that he is a decoy for some other OBama Admin. agenda needing to push something through. Call me crazy but have you heard anyone else lay this theory out? Or am I the lone loony? Is there something the administration has been working on that has blown under the radar because of our noses stuck to Van Jones?

However, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said that Van Jones "continues to work for the administration." So, it appears, the resignation was designed to shut Americans up while still allowing Van Jones to help implement his radical views through the Federal government.
