Curtis Family Vacation - Nags Head 2009

After 15 months of financial and medical traumas, our family was blessed with the miracle of a vacation - a week at Nags Head. Nine of our children were able to be with us - including newlyweds Ben and Anna.

We timed the week to coincide with Sophia's fall break. And though it was well post-season and we were told the weather had been terrible the week before, our week was transcendentally beautiful with daytime temps most days between 72-80. The water was warm and clear. We had days of great waves for body surfing and nights of a full moon in a starless sky reflected on the ocean.

Sophia drove down midweek wit her new beau, Josh (yes, it is a little confusing since we have a Josh too :) so we could meet him. Her brothers already knew Josh because he lives in their old off-campus house. Also, last year Ben, Zach, Sophia and Josh were all in Chamber Choir together. We had a great time while he was there and I think he saw the real Curtises up close and personal, including a child lost and found and all the usual clamor that comes with our family. After a couple days, Josh and Sophia drove farther south to visit his family, who live in Beaufort, then drove back up to Liberty Sunday.

It is always so hard to say goodbye. But Sophia is coming home this weekend to collect her winter clothes. Yes, it was so cold when we came home, and the leaves have turned.

But we have these wonderful warm memories:

Barbara, I was so glad to see that you and your family had a chance to go away together. I think it's important to get away as a family and recharge/reconnect. I love the pic of everyone at the dining room table. Our Lord is so gracious! Thanks for sharing.

There is nothing like a family vacation to make memories. I am so glad you all got that chance to be together and enjoy each other's company. I do know that your vacation several years ago encouraged us to make a family vacation a priority. I am so glad we did.
