Curtis kids in Smoky Joe's Cafe
We had four Curtis kids involved in Smoky Joe's Cafe at Franklin Park in August. Matt put together this montage, which I never posted because the sound quality was so poor I felt like it didn't do justice to their vocals.
Matt is the blond. He's our actor son who left home at 18 and knocked around the dinner theater scene, making his living at what he likes to do - acting and singing. He came home last November to regroup and save his money to go to New York. He works at the Sweetwater Tavern in Sterling, where he enjoys a flexible schedule which allows him to take the bus up to New York now and then for auditions. Still waiting for a big break. . . but we were lucky to have him get involved with a community theater event.
Zach is the National Merit Scholar/Quiz Bowl champion who just graduated from Liberty University. He was headed into Marines OCS this month, but recuperating from his May motorcycle accident/ankle surgery has pushed that back until January. Zach hadn't been in a play since 2003 (a shark in West Side Story), but Maddy and Matt talked him into this one last fling so they could all three be together.
Then they recruited Josh (my oldest son, 26) as drummer, but he's in the background where you can't see him.
Then there's Maddy, who at 16 was the youngest in the cast.

Maddy's voice is so beautiful.

i so enjoyed this!! Thank you "proud mama" for filming and sharing, thank you Matt, Zach, Josh, and Maddy for sharing your talent with us, and thank you Matt for putting the montage together! All of you are very talented and each in individual ways! Still seeing Maddy at age 16 singing as she does just blows my mind! What a blessing!

Barbara, I'm just scanning your postings for the day---no time to read them all right now, but did click on Matt's montage as I opened and scanned my e-mails. Since I was looking at other things, I was only listening......until I heard Maddy's voice.....WOW!!! I had to look to make sure it was her! I've heard her before (from your posts), but WOW!!! The depth and maturity in her voice.....Only 16yrs?......WOW!!!......
The boys were good, too, but Maddy was (dare I say it again) WOW!!!
