Obama daughters: no H1N1 swine flu vaccine in the White House

In another display of "Do As I Say and Not As I Do," our bossy First Lady will apparently not be getting H1N1 shots for her daughters.
I have suspected this would be the case for some time.
Now that it is confirmed that the First Daughters have not received the vaccine, how do you feel about the H1N1 panic Obama is trying to create? did you know he declared a national state of emergency??? This opens the door to all kinds of "emergency" powers for Secretary of Health Kathleen Sebelius (and the Big O himself).

I'm totally not against them making a decision, as parents, for THEIR OWN CHILDREN.. but I resent the mass hysteria they've created for others and how they've made others believe that this is a national crisis.

Do you have a link to a news article reporting that they are not getting the H1N1?
[I added the link: http://whitehouse.blogs.foxnews.com/2009/10/08/first-daughters-not-vaccinated-against-h1n1/. It is confusing, stating "At this time only children with chronic medical conditions are receiving the vaccination because their immune system is not strong enough to fight off the strain." It is dated October 8, and I think this was not true at that time. I think they were planning mass inoculation of school children even two weeks ago.]

Not to mention that one of their daughters has asthma, qualifying them as one of those with a chronic medical condition.

I appreciate the political news that you share, but you appear to be stretching it here. Your entry makes it sound as though the Obamas have decided not to vaccinate their girls. That may be true, but the article you linked did not support that fact.
I looked at the link. It said only that they have not been vaccinated, and that the vaccine is only available for high risk groups.
The availability of the vaccine probably varies by area. In my area, the vaccine is only available in limited amounts for folks in the highest risk groups. The health dept. here does not know when the vaccine will arrive for the general school-age population. And even children with chronic conditions such as asthma have not been able to get it yet.
[Excuse me, Becky, but if Obama was truly convinced that the vaccine was necessary, he would certainly have gotten it for his girls and also set an example for the nation to follow. He is the President of the US and can get anything he wants.
And as another commenter pointed out, one of his girls is high risk as she has asthma.]

Becky,
Like the President and his family, I am a DC resident. The DC Department of Health has made the H1N1 vaccine available to all children ages 6 mos. to 18 years, regardless of underlying condition. I certainly don't expect the President's children to show up a neighborhood flu vaccine clinic but the vaccine is available for children in DC.

I was just going by the information you provided, and the site you linked does not support the statement that Obama is not vaccinating his girls at all. That brief blurb makes DC sound like MI, where the vaccine is not available to all who want it, even if they do have children with asthma. If you have more concrete evidence, please cite it.
My contention is not with the Obamas or the vaccine. Personally, I did not vote for Obama and am very disappointed in many of his actions, and I have concerns about the vaccine as well. My contention is that I want to be able to trust you and your reporting of information, and this entry leaves me with a small cloud of doubt.
[Becky, as Molly - a DC resident pointed out, the vaccine is available here. See http://doh.dc.gov/doh/cwp/view,a,1370,q,604320.asp . I kinda resent this use of my time today. Just because the article didn't say "at all"??? If you don't believe something I write, next time maybe you can do the research to prove me right or wrong.]

Barbara,
You know I love you! :D
Becky was just using critical thinking to analyze what you wrote in regards to the article at hand. Because what you wrote did not support what she found in the article, I don't know if her comment is.....resent worthy?
Asking her to find research to disprove what you have written is kind of hard, when she's analyzing the article you gave as support in the first place. So now she has to find a statement from Obama that says they are absolutely not going to vaccinate their kids? Yeah right!
I'm not an Obama fan, but I do like to look at both sides of things. Could it be that this is a no win for him? If he had gotten his daughters the vaccine before a decent amount of other kids got theirs would we then be crying that he is getting preferential treatment? Could it be that they are waiting until later to get the vaccine?
It's still just so early (didn't the shots JUST start in the last two weeks for H1N1?) and with the vaccine shortage, maybe they are just waiting until there are more vaccines available....I don't know, but we won't know for sure until after the flu season is over and if the girls got their shot or not. If that happens, then we can say, SEE!! Hypocrite!!!
I mean, after all, Robert Gibbs is not the sharpest tack in the box, he probably didn't even know the correct answer but just blathed on as if he did. I doubt that response was premeditated, especially if what Molly says above is correct.

Becky, I want to start the day by apologizing for being cranky yesterday. Your points were valid and my reaction was due to the fact that when I come across material I suspect is wrong, I start scouring the Internet for more information, rather than asking the author to defend his/her position. If I find something contrary, I bring it to their attention.
My opinion is that the Obamas will not get their daughters H1N1 vaccine because they know this is a big hype - which leads to the 4th reason I forgot to mention - to steer people toward acceptance of their health care deforms (yes, I mean deforms rather than reforms).
I also think this is the most incredibly hypocritical Animal Farm administration we have ever seen. Very much Do As I Say, Not As I Do.
The fact is that the vaccine is avaialble in DC. As to Debra's comment that Obama might somehow forego the shots until more people had had them to have a more humble image: we have never seen an example of this kind of approach before: fancy restaurants, expensive date nights in NY and Chicago, lavish parties at the White House, European and Martha's Vineyard vacations show me the Obamas think they deserve the best even when others are doing without. Why would the vaccine be any different?
If they believed in the vaccine, they would have had their daughters immunized immediately and publicly. Especially the one with asthma.
As it is, if they get the shots, at this point I would be inclined to think it could be a placebo. Like I said, if they believed in the vaccine and with their history of not eschewing power, they would have had it first of all.
I was willing to give this president the benefit of a doubt when he was elected. No more. Read Alinsky's Rules for Radicals and see what you think.

[Interesting that this is published after an Internet furor yesterday - my site had hundreds of hits from google searches. I don't believe it for a minute.]

[This article was dated 9/20/09 and was seriously outdated.]

Good catch hhb - the blog post that was just a day or two ago thrown up onto Drudge was from October 8th - had the vaccine even come out yet? If it had, it had JUST come out unless my memory is totally shot. I didn't think they were available until October.
You're right Barbara that a sign of humbleness now would be a first! :D But hey,who knows, maybe someone smart started advising him. I'm with Camille, his advisors have not been worth anything. He's picked such inexperienced people to surround himself with that they haven't a clue what ticks the general public off.

I posted an article that included video on my blog where Obama states on Sept. 20 that they would get the flu shot and "wait in line" like everyone else. Selfless and humble were the words used by the Obama supporters on my blog to explain his statement.
Now, the fact that the girls allegedly received the shot from a White House doctor while the DC officials say there are lines at the clinics makes Obama seem confused and further politicizing our nations health. Some think he may have done this so that parents will feel better about giving it to their own children. But I think all he'll do in the end is add more speculation to whether or not the girls really got it.

Thanks Barbara, and apology accepted.
I get a lot of info from your site, especially info that I don't hear elsewhere (that coup is S. America is a prime example). Thanks for keeping up the integrity.

OK folks, cut it out! It is a waste of time trying to defend the Obamas' deceptions and arrogant semantics. They plain refused (i.e., chose not) to take the vaccine as a family while mandating that the whole damned world must! Hypocrisy at the least - politics at its worst(i.e., creating hysteria so that his health reform crap-bill would be pushed through). As I have titled an upcoming article: "Lies, Damn Lies, and Obama".
