Octomom a pregnant nun, anti-Catholicism and hate speech
I wish I hadn't seen this this morning:I debated whether to post this, but it segued with an article forwarded to me this morning by Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan on the toleration of anti-Catholicism in the United States, not to mention HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm building a plot from urine accidentally splashed on a picture of Jesus being interpreted by a devout Catholic as one of those weeping statue miracles (because Catholics are so weird, you know).Octomom Nadya Suleman's Pregnant Nun Halloween Costume
Octomom Nadya Suleman is no stranger to controversy. (To say the least.)![]()
This Halloween, the Angelina Jolie-wannabe celebrated by dressing up as -- wait for it -- a pregnant nun!
Even better? She dressed her entire baby brood as devils.
This ridiculous photo captures only 1/3 of the crazy family in action.
Was this a publicity stunt? A cry for attention? Or could she possibly just have thought this was a fun idea?

[Update: The Catholic League on Vulgar Catholic costumes]
Interesting that the hate crimes legislation smuggled in by House Democrats as an amendment to the Defense Appropriations bill makes a special protected class of homosexuals, targeting any kind of negative comment about gay marriage, etc, as hate speech.
Also, in a country so skittish about offending Muslims that we can't even speak out against the double standard of intense religious practices and physical punishment in some Muslim-dominated public schools, possible terrorist-encouragement in their schools, can you imagine what would happen if the entertainment industry derided Islam?
Isn't it

I would agree that Catholics are targeted as much as other Christian denominations. The Southern Baptists for years have been derided as backwards individuals also (and I know for I am a member of that denomination - the scornful looks I receive when it comes up in general conversation is pretty rough). The more liberal leaning Christian denominations tend to be less derided as they are seen and stereotyped as "openminded", and thus, deemed acceptable in society's eyes. The Holy Bible tells us that we are to expect such persecution. . . as Christ was persecuted, so shall all of His followers.
The hearts and minds of our young have been preyed upon by evil so that they are so swayed by cultural peer pressure into believing that Catholicism, Christianity overall, America, Conservatives, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, George W. Bush, etc. are "the enemy". And it doesn't help that we have be hypocrites. How do we stop this bleeding of the young?
As Christians, we cannot give up. I encourage you and any other Christian readers to remember in Whom our real HOPE and everlasting FAITH lies. We have reason to continue on with joy! It offends me, regardless the Christian denomination, whenever Christ is treated as anything less than our Savior.

It is so appalling that anti-Catholic bigotry is perfectly acceptable. What is worse, when I mention to fellow Catholics about this or that anti-Catholic smear, they hardly seem to notice! They accept it like it is just no big deal. Very disheartening. As Emily said, as Christians, we can expect to be treated no better than the Master, Jesus Christ.

Please do not give her any publicity. She's probably trying to shop a new tv deal or something. She needs to go within herself and resolve whatever issues she's (not) dealing with
