Rio de Janeiro wins! Hooray!
Like all these ecstatic Rio de Janerians, I was doing the happy dance when Chicago was eliminated from the Olympics Competition this morning.
I don't care how you feel about Obama, it has to be seen as pure hypocrisy that the man who decries US domination spends an outrageous amount of money and political capital to fly to Copenhagen to demand that the IOC award the US with its ninth hosting of the Olympics rather than awarding it to South America, which has never hosted the Games.
Yay, Rio de Janeiro!

Yeah for Rio! They seemed to work harder for it than Chicago did. I also was a little joyous that Obama failed. Maybe the world sees him the way I do.
I like your website, found out about it on Beck yesterday and love the idea. I am a stay at home mother for the last year. I worked until my daughter was 18 months old and my baby was 6 months old. I can honestly tell you that staying home with children is HARDER work than working and being a mother. I am tired of working mothers/nations attitudes toward homemakers. Both of my children are adopted and it is an HONOR to be their mother, not a burden.
Thank you for promoting motherhood. I will be back.

Let's keep the children of Rio in our prayers: http://monicaklepac.blogspot.com/2009/10/dear-rio-please-dont-shoot-children.html
It's a beautiful city with a dark underbelly. Of course, one wonders why Obama has yet to speak for the children of Chicago: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,556400,00.html

Considering he was the one apologizing for Americans being "arrogant" just a few days ago at the UN, I find it ironic that he not only went there to make the demand, but like you said, that the demand was made for our *9th* hosting, while South America has had none. Wouldn't it have been much more considerate to have not pushed so hard for it? (And another question: would O have gone there and pushed for it at all, had it not been Chicago? I think we all know that answer.)
Enjoyed seeing you & the other moms on Beck yesterday. :) You sound so calm and cool and so wise.

I had a friend observe that Obama's trip to lobby for the Olympics would the first one where he would be FORCED to say positive things about America for a change!
He and his Chicago mobster politicians don't deserve to be rewarded with the honor. I'm glad the rest of the world agreed.
Brazil's economy certainly needs the boost more than we do. As tough as our economy is, we're certainly not struggling the way third world countries are.

Hi there, found you through Glenn Beck's show. I am a native of Brazil and am happy that the Olympics will be held there, but mostly because Obama did not get his way. I am a US permanent resident, married to US citizen, have American children, live in this wonderful country and I am so worried about the route this country is going. US citizens do NOT give away your freedoms!!! Will be checking out your website some more. :) Tereza

I am watching you right now on the repeat of Glenn's show-wanted to find your site. Now I bookmarked it!
Looks great and keep it up! Love that you have so much support from your family.
Luv!

FACT 1
As each goose flaps its wings it creates an "uplift" for the birds that follow. By flying in a "V" formation, the whole flock adds 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew alone.
LESSON
People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going quicker and easier because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.
FACT 2
When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front of it.
LESSON
If we have as much sense as a goose we stay in formation with those headed where we want to go. We are willing to accept their help and give our help to others.
FACT 3
When the lead goose tires, it rotates back into the formation and another goose flies to the point position.
LESSON
It pays to take turns doing the hard tasks and sharing leadership. As with geese, people are interdependent on each other's skills, capabilities and unique arrangements of gifts, talents or resources.
FACT 4
The geese flying in formation honk to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.
LESSON
We need to make sure our honking is encouraging. In groups where there is encouragement, the production is much greater. The power of encouragement (to stand by one's heart or core values and encourage the heart and core of others) is the quality of honking we seek.
FACT 5
When a goose gets sick, wounded or shot down, two geese drop out of formation and follow it down to help and protect it. They stay with it until it dies or is able to fly again. Then, they launch out with another formation or catch up with the flock.
LESSON
If we have as much sense as geese, we will stand by each other in difficult times as well as when we are strong.
I saw you on GB tonight, and I remembered this poem I used to share with my staff. God Bless you

The interview on Glen Beck was great. I am a part of MOPS(Mothers of Preschoolers)International. A place where mothers can meet and be supported in the most important role they will ever have. I am a Mentor Mom to these young women and strongly believe it is our responsiblity to pass on what we have learned in order to strengthen them for the work they have before them, raising the next generation.
They are surrounded by a culture that does not value the efforts being taken by them to raise children with character, high values, and a love of God and their country. We do not want to see this next generation be on of compromise with its end result being the demise of the family. We need to partner with these young mothers, encouraging the bold steps they are forced to take for the benefit of our society.

Horray for Rio!
Another added bonus for us in the USA for Rio being awarded the games is that we won't have to stay up late/ go to bed early to catch our favorite events- they're only a time zone or two off for most of us:).
Betsey, I liked your story about the geese:).

You know, everyone thinks that Obama wanted the Olympic Games here because of cronyism (and that might be true); however, isn't it possible that if the Games were here, there would be even more distractions? How much easier would it be for Obama and Co. to push through laws without most Americans being any the wiser? Just a thought.

U GO RIO!!!!!!!!!!
I am ECSTATIC that Rio won and chicago DID NOT!!!
(I was born and raised in the 2nd city---make that
the 4th!) The arrogance and hypocrisy of the current administration and their supporters is utterly embarrassing. The look on the faces of those people waiting for the painful bad news was absolutely RICH!!!!!!!!!!
I suppose when "you lie!" you lose!
Thank you for your awesome website!
