Martha Stewart calls Palin "boring" and "dangerous"

From Jane:

Martha Stewart Calls Sarah Palin 'Boring And Dangerous'

Think it is time we conservative women teach Martha a lesson.

I emailed her a picture of my dinning room decorated with her products and a message that I will never buy another Martha Stewart product until she reads Palin's book and publicly apologizes for these remarks. Hope you could encourage your readers to let her know how we feel about her remarks.

With sincerest thanks for all you do.
Jane

I don't think I own anything Martha Stewart, but for those who do, what a great idea!

And I'm puzzled how one of the elite bright lights can think someone could be both boring and dangerous?????

I like Palin but would not support her for the Republican nomination.

Nevertheless, I have to laugh at a convicted felon calling her boring and dangerous.

[Julana, just curious: how can you be sure how you will feel in three years? I'm just asking because I/m not ready to say I would support her, but I definitely would not say I wouldn't. I'm just watching with appreciation for what is being revealed about her. Under McCain we never really saw who she was, although one thing I admired about her then was that she always was faithful to turn the spotlight on McCain and build him up in front of audiences. I like her as a person and as a woman. Reading Going Rogue has given me a deep appreciation of how a place like Alaska can shape a person with determination. I like her frugality and lack of pretense. As someone living fairly close to DC, I am sick of this high-flying administration feeling somehow entitled to spend our hard-earned money on himself. I think we could trust her not to do that.]

I figure Martha Stewart is entitled to her opinion. It's not like she used her show to talk about those opinions - even though that would be her right. CNN asked her at a fundraiser for what looks like Autism Speaks about her opinion re: Palin. They're the ones that make me angry, purposely trying to polarize a nation by getting celebrities to tell us what they think of political figures. At a fundraiser for a disorder affecting 1 in 100 kids, THAT is the question they ask MS? They're idiots. MS was just giving her opinion. My opinion on her opinion is that she was very, very honest, again telling us what the elite media, elite in Hollywood and elite in D.C. think of Main Street: boring and dangerous. We may not be as exciting as the elite think they are, but we sure as heck are gonna be politically dangerous in 2010 and 2012.

So glad I read this, especially since I had just been to Macy's & fell in love with most of her stuff. Thank goodness I decided to wait awhile before purchasing.

I do find it kind of funny that Martha Stewart can possibly think someone else is boring.

Is it just coincidence that now, when Obama has made it clear that it is the Age of Celebrities at the White House, celebrities seem more convinced than ever that fame alone brings license to preach on all matters, political and moral?

Posted by: Marian | November 24, 2009 8:51 PM

Jane, I love your approach!

Elle, you make a very good point.

Posted by: von | November 24, 2009 9:34 PM

Martha defends her statement by asking "have you ever heard her speak, she sounds so confused" followed by "I wouldn't watch her if you paid me".

Martha loved the chance to make a political statement. Someone with purported class would say something like "we are here to discuss autism today."

I listen to Sarah Palin discuss energy solutions for America. I listen to Martha discuss how to take the tarnish out of silver.

Martha needs to know her place(setting).

Touche, Kelly!! Magazine has been cancelled, email has been sent.

Kelly,

Good point re: Martha Stewart's class!

Posted by: Elle | November 24, 2009 11:11 PM

Martha Stewart is boring.

Posted by: Mary | November 25, 2009 12:19 AM

Kelly,

It's funny the way you said what you said. Good points there :-)

Posted by: Sunnyday | November 25, 2009 2:58 AM

I love it. Kelly, you're right. Martha Stewart is not known for her expertise on anything except how to set a table, decorate the house for the holidays, etc. Why should I care about what she says about this woman of substance, Sarah Palin?

The decorating expertise is fine. It's just Martha Stewart's lack of class that makes her look...ugly.

(there. I said it.)

I still don't understand the hate that is lobbed at Sarah Palin. Just don't get it. Ms. Stewart had some not so nice things to say about Rachel Ray recently too (but I just read that she has apologized on her show). Sounds like an unhappy person to me.

I just read this article and it goes along with this thread. The words are pretty strong but the article is spot on. I hope it's okay to link it here, but when I read it I thought of this post.

Martha Martha Martha. Whats the deal, stick to glitter, double boilers, and linen.

Posted by: Bernice | November 25, 2009 1:56 PM

What a twit Martha is...So smugly calling Sarah "Boring" this coming from someone who is like watching paint dry. She came out with Scrapbooking supplies awhile back and was very picky about choosing a store "Good" enough to sell them...Now they are in Walmart LOL. I have sent off emails too....What goes around comes around Martha.

Posted by: Carol | November 25, 2009 8:05 PM

I admit that I have purchased a few of Martha's homegoods in the past but I will never purchase any more of her goods. She is a bore and we must remember she is a crook. I have never watched any of her televison shows because of that fact.

Hi Barbara,
Glad you had such a good Thanksgiving.

Re Sarah Palin---I don't think she has the intellectual depth to be President of the U.S. John Mark Reynolds shared his impressions of Going Rogue on his blog. Even though I haven't read the book, I pretty much share his perspective.

Posted by: Julana | November 28, 2009 7:45 PM

Juliana, I don't know where you get your information about Sarah Palin. Perhaps you should read the book?

I suspect that you've been listening the media who hate her. I seriously recommend a second look. And don't listen to the MSM. They're the ones who contributed so much to the mess we're in today.

It is important to TELL HER HOW YOU FEEL. I did and I hope you will, too.
