Obama's first remarks following Ft. Hood massacre

How insensitive can you be? Two minutes of shout-outs at an event he should have canceled completely to act as Commander-in- Chief:

All the words his speechwriters came up with for him to read cannot make up for the astonishingly cavalier and jaunty attitude which preceded it.

This is not a "horrific act of violence" but a terrorist attack on our own soil. The "deeply religious" Muslim major yelled 'ALLAHU AKBAR' before opening fire. There is still a lot of mystery around this: it is being reported that he acted alone, and yet two men are in custody. And how could one man have killed and wounded so many people in such a short amount of time surrounded by military personnel?

Ft. Hood suspect reportedly shouted `Allahu Akbar'

I am so glad to know that others are thinking the same thing regarding his remarks. As I was watching the coverage on FOX, I waited to hear what Mr. Obama had to say. As he began his speech I kept thinking that FOX had made a mistake in airing a different speech. But at the end of it when he finally mentioned what had happened, his words were so void of any feeling. It just all seemed so scripted and false.

I keep waiting for the President to do something to show us all that we were wrong about him. That he really does love America and is proud of our country. This was the last straw for me. I have absolutely no respect for this man. I pray that the damage he does to our country in the next three years can be undone by the next person. And I pray that that next person is worthy of being President, as this one is not.

Barbara,
I, too, thought the SAME THING! Just like April above stated, I kept waiting for him to talk about the "terroristic" killing at Fort. Hood.

This was terrorism!

This makes me so ILL.....

I am so furious about the media coverage of this event. They keep coming at it from a "mental health" angle and suggest that the military didn't do enough to keep its troops free of stress.

First of all, US soldiers are have a suicide and murder rate far lower than others in their age group. They are suprisingly well adjusted.

Even if that weren't the case, it is absurd to pretend that this happened because of some sort of "pre-traumatic stress disorder." Please! This happened because Mr. Hasan was carrying out his own personal Jihad. To pretend otherwise is maddening.

I want to scream everytime I see a reporter wringing their hands over the mental health of our military. Can we please focus on, oh I don't know, THE TERRORISM!?

Obama is out warning us "not to jump to conclusions." The only question that should be in anyone's mind right now is if the TERRORIST acted alone.

I am literally seething after watching this poor excuse for a Commander In Chief. How dare he be so disrespectful!

I watched PO's remarks live, as well, and COULD NOT believe that he used the words "shout out" prior to speaking about the tragedy that had taken place at Ft Hood. I haven't witnessed ANY natural affection from him--ever...people are props, and only used for political purposes. When I read about him, or listen to his many speeches, I'm often reminded of the passage in II Timothy 3:1-5:

"But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people."

President Obama will address this shooting rampage now. Lets listen live...

But first he has to run through his little list of shout outs, including a cheery little wave to Dr Joe 'medicine' Crow. His demeanour is utterly buoyant, upbeat and breezy.
All the while the news scrolls at the bottom of the screen announcing the death and injury toll.
This has to be the most breath taking demonstration of utterly callous disconnectedness.
I heard about this shooting just before I went to bed last night and those devastated families were on my mind as I went to sleep. I felt so sorrowful and heavy hearted.
And then I see this clown grinning and waving and going through his usual smooth guy routine.
And this is your president.
You couldn't make it up.

"Oh, and by the way...there was a shooting today at Fort Hood."

That's the impression he gives. A little lip service after his regular business at hand with a nod to someone in the audience.

Can you imagine...what the media would say...if this was our previous President?

I miss President Bush.

Remember when the liberals harshly judged President Bush because he remained calm during a classroom at the time he received news of the 9-11 attacks? (I don't know what they wanted him to do--have a panic attack in front of the kids?) But Obama was speaking to adults and he already knew about Fort Hood--it wasn't coming at him on the spot, yet he took his sweet time to casually mention it. Do the hypocrite liberals criticize him for this?
