Uprising - Muse - V theme - revolutionary music

Ouida left a comment on my V post about the theme music. I hadn't gotten into that, but glad she pointed it out. This music rocks - and makes me feel very revolutionary :)

Paranoia is in bloom,
The PR transmissions will resume,
They'll try to push drugs that keep us all dumbed down,
And hope that we will never see the truth around
(So come on)
Another promise, another scene,
Another packaged lie to keep us trapped in greed,
And all the green belts wrapped around our minds,
And endless red tape to keep the truth confined
(So come on)

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
We will be victorious
(So come on)

Interchanging mind control,
Come let the revolution take it's toll,
If you could flick a switch and open your third eye,
You'd see that
We should never be afraid to die
(So come on)

Rise up and take the power back,
It's time the fat cats had a heart attack,
You know that their time's coming to an end,
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
We will be victorious
So come on

I don't know if the generation singing this music is just youthful angst or if they understand that Obama and Company have become - in The Who's language - The New Boss:

The people who thrilled to The Who grew up. Those lusting after power have become our new leaders. They think they're revolutionary, but they're not. O&Co and the Tired Old Media are now The Establishment. And their tactics are more oppressive and repressive than any Republican who's ever held the presidency. (See Animal Farm)

Obama is not only not defending our freedom, he is trampling on it as he destroys our economy, demeans our former allies (if he could dash to Copenhagen to demand the Olympics, why couldn't he show up at the Berlin Wall?) and kowtows to those who've declared themselves to be enemies of capitalism and the United States.

Also, with all the railing I've been doing lately about Big Pharma, you can bet I appreciate Muse's reference to how America's Rx obsession keeps millions from perceiving and acting on the truth. As Lenina in Aldous Huxley's Brave New World says of soma - the official state-prescribed drug for the citizenry:

"Was and will make me ill,
I take a gram and only am."

The same goes for mindless entertainment. Karl Marx said that religion was the opiate of the masses - but that was before television.

Parents, this is why it's crucial that you clean up your own act. Be good stewards of your time. And Teach Your Children Well:

Funny how so many revolutionary songs of the 60s and 70s are anthems for conservatives today.

Love,

Just wanted to say that I love this song and the lyrics. I'm not sure the motivation behind them, but they sure do motivate me for my own cause :-)
