Catholics - is it time for you to come home?

I was baptized Catholic as a baby, but never really raised in the faith. A broken family and early abuse left me lacking a solid foundation and as an adult I fell into a chaotic and dysfunctional life for many years - although I didn't see it that way at the time.

In 1987 I became a follower of Jesus Christ and my healing journey began. In 2007, I felt God calling me to come to Mass. There, quite simply, I realized that I had misjudged and misunderstood how God had provided not only the gift of His Son but the gift of sharing His presence at Mass. I felt the universality and timelessness of Christianity in the Catholic Church - unbound by culture or nationality. I sensed the awe and reverence I'd been missing for 20 years.

It's a complex story, and yet very simple. If you are interested in great detail and the reaction my announcement caused, click on Catholicism, scroll to the bottom and begin reading Evangelical to Catholic).

And if, by chance - well, it wouldn't really be by chance - you are considering coming home to Catholicism, visit:

And feel free to write me.

I stopped by your Catholicism category, curious to read more on your personal story. I was pleased to read the first couple of posts, but then it turned into a War zone in there. :(

In my walk with Jesus I have learned that it is useless to try to defend ourselves. Jesus himself set the example when He did not retaliate or tried to save Himself. People will always misunderstand us. We ourselves don't complete understand and know it all about ourselves. Only God does.

I am so glad that God is the one that begins and finishes His work in us. :) Thanks for sharing your story.

PS I know that I am 2 years late on leaving my comments, so I don't mind if you delete or not publish this. I know that you have probably already learned the lessons that were meant to be learned from your posts in Catholicism. (I only read the first 7) :)
