Leesburg's Tally Ho Theater $1 Christmas series

tally ho.jpg

The wonderful - and very family-friendly Tally Ho Theater in Leesburg is offering a series of Christmas movies for just $1.

They also have $3. Thursday nights.

The Tally-Ho is an older theater with an interesting history:About the Tally Ho

The Tally Ho Theatre opened for showings September 21, 1931, with the movie "Sporting Blood" starring Clark Gable. The theater was a recreational outlet for the rural farming communities of Loudoun County in the years before television. The theatre was segregated, with African-American patrons forced to sit in the balcony. In 1965, a group of African-Americans challenged the segregation policy by sitting downstairs in the area reserved for white patrons.

In 2000, the theatre was closed for renovations and re-opened in September 2002 to serve as a movie house and performing arts center. The theatre came under new proprietorship of Market Street Productions in January of 2008 with a focus on live entertainment, first-run feature films, and movie theme nights. For movie fans, the Tally Ho is a refreshing change from the big cinemaplex.  Also, because they are well-connected, they are able to get new movies in spite of the fact that they're off the beaten track.

Tell them Barbara sent you!
