Meeting the Marines - Obama and Bush

Mr. Hail to the Chief vs. Mr. Real. Did you know Bush didn't allow Hail to the Chief to be played when he met our troops?

Could you elaborate on why Bush didn't allow the song to be played? Is there a link that you can provided? I find this intriguing and would love to learn if there is a reason - humbleness perhaps?

I'm not sure the current admin knows what humbleness is. Bush was wearing on me the last couple years (and I live in Texas!) but I would gladly take him again over President Obama.

My oldest 2 sons are Marines and one was at the speech that President Obama gave at Camp Lejeune. It was MUCH different than the speech in the video. It was very formal and the Marines were all at attention. Quite a contrast.

Just finished watching the video (should have done that before leaving the previous comment) and I see that both speeches are in the video so you can see the contrast for yourself. :)

did they play Hail to the Chief at West Point last week?

A friend of ours who teaches there said the cadets were filed into the auditorium four hours before the President Obama's speech, and made to sit in their seats for several hours without being allowed to go to the bathroom.
Cadets are not allowed to fall asleep in class, but they are usually encouraged to get up and stand in the back of their classrooms to avoid falling asleep. However, they could not do this on that day.
Instead, they were only allowed to bring one book and a camera. No wonder so many were falling asleep...then apparently, the command went through all the photage to try and identify cadets who were asleep so they could dicipline them. I think that totally stinks!
