Stand for Christmas: how Christmas-friendly are retailers?

You definitely want to visit Stand for Cristmas, where you can rate retailers for their Christmas attitude and perhaps make decisions where you want to spend your Christmas dollars:

SFC

How "Christmas-Friendly" Are Retailers?

Millions upon millions in our nation deeply value the great truths of Christmas and the holiday's inspiring place in American life and culture. We hope you will take a moment to "Stand for Christmas" by sharing feedback about your Christmas shopping experiences.

We're asking YOU to decide which retailers are "Christmas-friendly." They want your patronage and your gift-shopping dollars, but do they openly recognize Christmas?

Please post your rating and share your comments, which will go directly to retailers and appear on this site. Then, forward them to a friend!

I have already been busy calling up a few major retailers here in Canada. It only makes sense that Christmas dollars get spent where there is Christmas spirit. One of the retailers dedicates 1/4 of its floor space to Christmas decorating. I told them that if they were so worried about being offensive, to stop stocking Christmas items all together. I reminded the very polite person on the end of the line that Walmart shared a parking lot with them and they were embracing Christmas.

You know, any cultural holiday that brings friends and family together spiritually is something that should spread happiness to everyone. If I worked in a bakery that made sweets popular with Jews during Hanukkah, I would be happy for all the customers coming in to prepare for their celebrations. Same if I had a co worker who looked forward to seeing her children during Diwali. Why are some people so troubled by these events?

I wanted to post a “Christmas Friendly”, but it wasn’t for a retailer and it wasn’t in the list, so here it is for you:

Christian Friendly Restaurant to visit during your Christmas shopping Monday-Saturday

Chic-fil-A Closed on Sundays to give their employees a day of rest and we have yet to go to one where the customer service was anything less then superb!

Hobby Lobby is closed on Sunday because the day is worth more than the dollar!!! And they are Christian owned!!!

Truthfully, I really don't want retailers being "Christmas friendly". Buying an iPod has nothing to do with the birth of our Savior. I'd rather they were honest and said "Io Saturnalia" instead of Merry Christmas".

I'm kind of with Tari here. I don't really understand why people think it is important that stores emphasize Christmas and have holiday decorations. I'm not religious, but I would think that if the holiday truly is about Jesus, then people would not care if commercial entities got involved with Christmas. Doesn't this just add to the commercialization of Christmas and the idea that it's about "stuff"?
