American Idol Hollywood week 2/3. 2/9, 2/10

american idol logo.jpgLike I said, I've been kinda disappointed in American Idol so far - especially looking at it through the eyes of friends who might be watching it for the first time because of Maddy's involvement. There's just been too much focus on the attention-seeking loonies - and apparently we should feel sorry for any contestant who has a child and wants to achieve fame and fortune to support them.

Really, the part where they get into the actual competition is much more interesting. this is kind of like looking at a car wreck even though you know it's not very noble to gawk.

Anyway, it is public knowledge that Maddy auditioned in Boston and made it to Hollywood. What's not public knowledge yet is what happened there. I have no way of knowing whether any footage of her in Hollywood will make it onto the show, but in case you are watching, the Hollywood episodes are 2/3 (tonight), 2/9 and 2/10.

I will say that no matter what happened, Maddy has made us very proud - and not just because of a Golden Ticket to Hollywood :)

Love,

I just rewatched Maddy and cried again as I did the first time she was on (and didn't know she was your daughter). Thanks for sharing your daughter's gift.

The only reason I watched the auditions this year was for Maddy. I agree, the sad sob stories are getting old. We all have a past and things to overcome. Fox has a show to sell and sob stories are the way to go for Idol apparently. I have already decided that if the top 24 are not worthy of my time then I won't be watching. I am beginning to think that there will never be a season like season 7 again. I loved so many of the contestants that year that it was hard to see anyone leave. I hope to see Maddy make it to the next round but I honestly don't think she will. Her voice is to classic and I don't think that Idol wants those kind of voices. They would let someone like Sangia in despite he can't sing just for ratings. Either way, God has a plan for Maddy and that is what matters most. I'm still a fan of Maddy's. If she puts out a CD I will be first in line to buy it!

I watched AI for the first time because my friend Margaret told me about Maddy. I did have to make it "off limits" to my 8 and unders. There were many opportunities to talk about the dignity of the body, modesty and growth in virtue with my 10 and 12 year old as a result of the stories, outfits and body art. Nonetheless, our prayers are with Maddy!
