    The Little Red Hen
Hooray for a good work ethic! The little red hen asks but receives no help in her efforts to put bread on the table. Yet all who wouldn't help would like to eat. In a refreshingly old-fashioned triumph of moral consequences, they don't get to!
  • Noisy Nora
    Noisy Nora
Poor Nora! The loveable mousette experiences all the pangs of the child-in-the- middle, caught between the demands of baby brother and bossiness of big sister. Catchy meter, playful illustrations make for a wonderfully satisfying mouse's tale. Baby-Preschool

Beautiful love story: a baby with Down syndrome

nella cordelia.jpg Thanks to Brenda, Marian, Jennifer and Margaret - and anyone else whose emails I haven't gotten to - for pointing us to this wonderful story: a mom tuned into aesthetic beauty gives birth to her second daughter and sees immediately that she has Down syndrome.

She shares her feelings nakedly, but the conclusion is fierce, emphatic love:

I cannot begin to tell you how much I love her. I wouldn't trade her for the world, and y'all can have that heart you let me borrow back. My broken heart has been healed...and if you held her, you'd know what I mean.

God has certainly been providing many windows for people to peek inside the lives we share with loved ones with Down syndrome. The more people understand this is not a tragedy but an amazing challenge with transformative power within your family and community, the more lives will be spared.

Thank you so much to Kelle for this beautiful piece of her heart:

Kelle is such an amazing writer! I look so forward to reading about Nella's life, watching her grow up. As with you, Barbara, and Nate from "CF Husband", Kelle is so generous in sharing her story with the world, so that through the experiences of families blest by a different walk, we are brought to an understanding of a place that we would never have known.

Thanks Jennifer, but I'm not sure I'm in the same league with Kelle or Nate when it comes to depth. I guess because I cover so many different topics. Which is why I appreciate them so much.
