Loudoun Favorite Tree photo contest

The Loudoun County Arbor Day Committee is sponsoring the 13th annual "Favorite Loudoun Tree Photo Contest" to draw attention to some of Loudoun County's most precious assets. This year, the Arbor Day celebration will be held at Morven Park on Saturday, April 24, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Morven Park is a 1,000-acre historic site located at 17263 Southern Planter Lane, Leesburg. The photo contest is part of a day-long celebration of trees that includes a parade and many tree-related activities, demonstrations and exhibits that draw attention to the benefits and importance of trees.
Entries must be a photo of a single tree in its entirety that is growing in Loudoun County. The entry must be a photograph taken by the entrant and it must not be enhanced. It also must be printed on photographic paper, no larger than 8 1/2" x 11", unframed and in black or white or color. A sheet of paper affixed to the back of the photo should state the name, address and phone number of the photographer, location of the tree, the specific species and its significance if known. Photos should be submitted to: Loudoun Soil & Water Conservation District, 30-H Catoctin Circle, S.E., Leesburg, VA 20175 arriving no later than 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010. Photos will not be returned and they become the property of the Arbor Day Committee.
Winning photos will be displayed at the 22nd annual Loudoun Arbor Day Celebration. Containerized native deciduous trees, donated by local nurseries, will be presented to photographers of the top four photos during the formal ceremony.
