Pro-abortion license plates approved for VA
[Update: there's a twist - Planned Parenthood will not receive the funds from these plates! Expect some litigation, as they really are not about choice at all]
Abortion-rights license plate approved February 16, 2010 - 3:00pmRICHMOND, Va. - The House and Senate have passed bills to create an abortion-rights license plate, but the GOP-controlled House balked at sending proceeds to an organization that performs the procedures.
The Senate voted 26-8 to create the "Trust Women/Respect Choice" plates. After the first 1,000 plates are sold, $15 from each $25 plate would go to Planned Parenthood.
The House voted 77-22 for the plate, but it diverted the proceeds to an unused fund that supports women with unplanned pregnancies.
As required by law, Planned Parenthood has presold more than 350 of the plates.
If the funds don't go to Planned Parenthood, supporters warned it could set up a constitutional challenge because Virginia last year passed a "Choose Life" plate and courts have said states can't favor one viewpoint over another.
They had to get even when they were unable to block the "Choose Life" plates. They are a worried bunch - worried that women might carefully consider abortion as an ethical dilemma rather than on a par with filling a cavity at the dentist.
"Trust Women/Respect Choice" is a euphemism for Support Abortion - the silent holocaust killing 1.5 million babies a year, a disproportionate number of them African-American.

It's wonderful to see Virgina get behind women's rights. If you don't want an abortion or a license plate supporting that right, "megamom," then don't get one -- that's YOUR choice. But don't tell me what to do with my body. Perhaps your time would be better spent advocating sex education to minimize unplanned pregnancies instead.

Hey Jennifer - Planned Parenthood has never been pro-choice as they refuse to tell women of other options than abortion. They make BILLIONS each year on abortions, so they have a vested interest in promoting abortion.

No one is telling you what to do with your body other than Planned Parenthood, who want to sell as many abortions per woman as possible. What's sad is women thinking they're free thinkers who've been shamelessly brainwashed and exploited.
Check your history - the First Wave Feminists - Susan B. Anthony, et al - saw abortion as exploitation.
And don't worry - those of us having lots of children are bringing up a pro-life generation. Keep having your "choice" - in the end, we'll win at the voting booth.
And why sign "respectfully" to a comment laced with sarcasm and contempt? Be authentic!

The govt is constantly trying to tell us what we can do with our bodies. Smoking, drugs, drinking.
Jennifer, stop the talk about "your body." Once you are pregnant, "your body" is undergoing changes whether you like it or not. If you stop a pregnancy midstream then it actually hurts your body more than if you gave birth.
If you don't want responsibility then give that child to someone else (who's not afraid of it).
Be a woman. Not a wimp.

It's a baby. And there are only two ways it can come out. Dead or alive.
Do what you like with your own body, but don't kill or harm the extra body inside. Since when does a woman's body have double the amount of organs, or even male parts?
Abortion is an expoitation of women. Women are often coerced into having abortions. Women are being used by men and then violated with the abortion cover-up. Women have been deceived at the most basic level. The blood of their own children has been shed – by their own hands. Abortion does not help women.
EXPLOITATION – Abortion gives men the right to "use" women without consequences. Abortion exists so men can pursue a lifestyle of sexual irresponsibility without accountability.
COERCION – Men coerce women into believing that abortion is the only solution. Abortion provides an easy out for the man, certainly not for the woman.
DECEPTION – The woman is deliberately deceived about the abortion itself, its effects on her and on her living, growing child.
VIOLENCE – Abortion is a violent act against both the mother and the child.
