The deer at our door
This weather must be hard on the deer who cohabit Bluemont with us humans. They are reduced to nibbling at the evergreens, which seem to be a last resort when the snow is covering their more preferred vegetation.
Tripp helped me get this photo by opening the front door ever so slowly. This little fawn may have been too dazed by the cold to react very fast. So sweet. I wish we could have taken him in:
Today is day 7 of Snow Apocalypse 2010. It is sunny, but too cold to melt anything. The winds are less alarming, but still pretty blustery. My kids all have colds and can't go out, but it's not the sort of day you want to take even a well child out. Or at least us wimps in northern Virginia.
We're watching lots of old movies. I'm doing laundry and blogging. Tripp and Zach are out shoveling snow - again. But the wind and the dry, powdery snow are making things pretty difficult
Life seems to be on hold. No mail delivery. We're almost out of wood and no one can get through to deliver.
The kids have been out of school and everything has been at a standstill since February 4. Next Monday is a school holiday, so they should go back on Tuesday - but guess what?

What a beautiful deer! Thanks for sharing the photo. Here in western Washington state my boys wish they had some snow to play in but I like the mild climate. ;)
