USCCB scandal - more info and resources

usccb.jpgSome very trustworthy Catholic notables are coming to the defense of John Carr and the USCCB. This is a distraction, as the issue is not about a particular person, but long-festering problems within the USCCB. The laity still needs to become more educated about the limits to this group's authority - and the many ways in which theri "progressive" bent over the last several decades has changed the face of Catholicism in this country from our universities to our parishes to our celebration of the Mass.

Their level - at least among staffers - with anti-Catholic groups demands exposure and our full attention.

Wendy Wagner, a friend and member of Catholic Conservative Women of Loudoun, writes:

The initial reaction from some bishops was to defend Carr's pro life credentials (which were not the target in the first place) and to pretty much downplay the accusations that money from USCCB funds are being directed towards organizations that promote abortion and same sex marriage, etc....

I think the USCCB is being played and that although some bishops are just completely ignorant of the liberal/progressive agenda being advanced (in a stealth manner) by means of their own organization, I do have a sense that there are some within the USCCB that know EXACTLY what's going on and have been supporting or "turning a blind eye" to all the "community organizing" efforts taking place right under their noses.

There are a lot of smelly fish within the USCCB who care more about protecting their hidden agendas than promoting and standing up for the Catholic Church. This is just my 2 cents.... I of course have no PROOF, but have a hunch...where there is smoke, there is usually fire.

Hi Barbara,
Thank You for blogging about the Bishops conference. My husband and I have been aware for some time that some( I'm not sure how much) money from the Bishops appeal goes to liberal,anti-life causes. My husband has been involved with Immigration and Border protection for many years. He is very aware that the Catholic Church is funding programs that defend illegal immigration and the defense of criminal aliens. We are dismayed that liberals are using the church and breaking laws in the name of "social Justice".

These are great, informative and sometimes even humorous YouTubes about a horrific problem within in our Church. I've signed the petition and forwarded the page with the petition and roundup of this week and last week's YouTubes on the topic to many. With prayer and responsible action, the laity can do much to save the Church from the enemy within.

Thank you!!!
