10:48 PM House passes Obamacare

March 21, 2010
House passes ObamaCare
Thomas Lifson

At 10:48 PM Eastern Daylight Savings Time, the United States House of Representatives passed the Senate ObamaCare bill with 219 yay votes and 212 nays. The Stupak cave-in turned out to be critical. Nancy Pelosi got her "historic" victory, as did President Obama. House Democrats began chanting, "Yes we can."

The story has many chapters yet to be written. But this is a sad day for America.

Love,

Goes to show that there is no such thing as a "Pro-life Democrat". The people who sold out America will be rejected in November, if we aren't outvoted by all the illegals who may gain amnesty and voting privileges by then. We must continue to pray and fast until true patriots are in the Congress and W.H. again. All I know for sure is that God's Justice will prevail in the end. Julie

I agree. A sad day.

On a Sunday no less...what happened to not working on Sunday. Maybe if our country as a whole respected this value we would not be in this whole mess!

We sat back while 50,000,000+ Unborn Americans were destroyed by legitimized criminals! We voted the same criminals into office and gave them the power they now enjoy. Why is anyone surprised that they are determined to destroy anything else that stands in the way of their power? You can expect more destruction during the "transformation" of a dying America. The culmination of that transformation will be America Deceased! They're "giddy" with power and we gave it to them. We are receiving exactly what we deserve. Turning our back on God and our Unborn in 1973 is "coming home to roost."

I'm watching the country that I love die a slow death. I am so sad.

And yes, what can we expect when abortion is the law of the land?

If we won't be ruled by God we will be ruled by tyrants. Nobody can escape the effects of abortion.

I agree with much of what Franklin has said. I believe that he accurately states how we have gotten to this sad state in our nation. I believe that we are suffering (and are going to continue to suffer) because of our sins - especially abortion - and that the current power of the Democrats and Barack Obama is a judgment on our nation. But as Fr. Corapi says, God permits suffering to bring about a greater good. There are signs of hope all around us if we have eyes to see. Our patriotic passions are being inflamed, multitudes are returning to God (you have already written about Catholics Come Home, there was also an amazing revival in Haiti, even the gay agnostics at the Hillbuzz blog returned to church last week to pray and light candles) and God has raised up efforts like 40 Days for Life which is producing amazing fruit. Hearts and minds are being changed about abortion and over 2500 babies are KNOWN to have been saved since 40 DFL began! Wow. Get involved! We must pray, act and have hope. God is merciful and He is faithful.

I am so grieved. Obama is a socialistic trojan horse. And this legislation has opened the hatch.

a sad day indeed...for encouragement I keep singing this hymn over & over -

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteous;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness veils his lovely face,
I rest on his unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

I feel so defeated. But I so love my country! God Bless America!

We have sadly discovered the consequences of apathy and surrendering our liberty so cheaply for government handouts. Socialism supplants God as our provider and the one in whom we put our trust, and puts the state in His place. It is not compassionate, and it is NOT BIBLICAL! It is time for the Church to awaken and fight for truth.

NOW IS THE TIME TO JOIN THE FIGHT! Our country needs to be brought back to God through evangelism and discipleship. The only way our nation can truly be won back is by a transformation of the heart, which can only be accomplished through Christ and a truly Biblical Worldview. Christians need to get informed and take back all the areas of society that we have apathetically surrendered to the Statists and Secularists, such as education, media, care for the poor and needy, health care, business, and politics.
