Abortion/breast cancer link - and media cover-up

depressed woman.jpg I was visiting with a group of women Monday and the talk turned to abortion and the turn of our country away from pro-abortion to pro-life.

One of the moms said that in the years to come women were going to start becoming very angry about having been misled/brainwashed into thinking that abortion was as casual as a trip to the dentist (I once heard two teenage girls chatting casually in a checkout line about one's abortion scheduled the next day).

From the Center for Bio-ethical Reform (take some time to browse, bookmark and share with friends):

Likelihood of abortion: An estimated 43% of all women will have at least 1 abortion by the time they are 45 years old. 47% of all abortions are performed on women who have had at least one previous abortion.
Who's having abortions (religion)? Women identifying themselves as Protestants obtain 37.4% of all abortions in the U.S.; Catholic women account for 31.3%, Jewish women account for 1.3%, and women with no religious affiliation obtain 23.7% of all abortions. 18% of all abortions are performed on women who identify themselves as "Born-again/Evangelical".

Look around at church someday and depending on your denomination, you can grieve for the many women who may be suffering or stuffing the emotional aftermath of abortion - many completely on their own. Take a moment to pray for them.

If you have had an abortion, it may be time to examine how it may have affected your life and your relationships.

There may be a reason why the last time the government released statistics on anti-depressants, 1 in 10 women were on them. And that was 2004 - think of how use has probably soared in the last 6 years. And think of all those anti-depressant ads on daytime TV with the View/Ellen/Oprah/Dr. Phil crowd.

Why are women twice as likely as men to be depressed? Read about women's depression at FamilyDoctor.org and see how similar the symptoms are too post-abortive women who acknowledge their grief. Think of how many women are stuffing those feelings.

Since I wrote about anger issues/emotional freedom yesterday, I've had a lot of email from women who said I must have been thinking of them. Well, really, I get up every morning not knowing what I will write about, but being led by comments and emails. I pray that God has a hand in it.

I will be posting later - after going out to live in the real world for a while this morning :) - about post-abortion grieving and healing. Actually, what I set out to share was that women need to know that the link between abortion and breast cancer is very real and has been documented.

It is covered up because Planned Parenthood is the major abortion provider in the US - and with 3700 abortions each day, they have a very strong interest in keeping the status quo - and if anything, growing the number of abortions and growing their profits.

Women have been sold a bill of goods about abortion making their lives free. Really, abortion and the so-called sexual revolution have enslaved them. And the culture is in collusion to keep women hyped up sexually - e.g. selling thong underwear even to little girls - and on automatic pilot, acting without thinking.

It simply doesn't fit the agenda to warn women about the abortion/breast cancer link. But truly, in a culture where a pack of cigarettes comes with a warning label, women seeking abortion should be signing documents acknowledging that they have been informed of abortion risks.

"Women have been sold a bill of goods about abortion making their lives free. Really, abortion and the so-called sexual revolution have enslaved them." I whole-heartedly agree!

Not challenging you here, Barbara. I'm just expressing an interest in a fuller look at this topic.

I'd love to read a comprehensive article about this issue, since medical studies vary in their results. Some say abortion is linked to breast cancer, others do not. Cancer.org offers an interesting piece about this http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/content/CRI_2_6x_Can_Having_an_Abortion_Cause_or_Contribute_to_Breast_Cancer.asp , concluding that cancer and abortions are not linked.

Believe me, I think abortion is horrible and should not be legal. But I also think we have to be so careful about our claims regarding it. If we argue something like "abortions give women breast cancer" and this turns out a false claim, many people who might have been converted into believing abortion is bad may end up thinking the anti-abortion crowd is, indeed, just a group of nut jobs.

Kristina -

The answer for me is simple, Kristina. I believe the research that shows a link because it makes common sense.

For years I was one of the few voices decrying the Global Warming dogma and pointing to research and scientists opposed to the pop culture scam.

I have good instincts and a strong streak of common sense. You mess with your body in a way it was not intended to be messed with and there are consequences.

That's just the way it is.

I also call it the way I see it, not the way that will keep me safe from being declared a "nut job."

I don't mind being called a "nut job," either, but it can turn people away from the solid facts we have that may help change their heart.

Kristina,

I guess that as in many other instances, you and I will just have to agree to disagree.

As members of the Body of Christ, we each have different roles to fulfill. I'm secure in what I'm doing, and I don't come to your blog to tell you what you should and shouldn't be writing. I assume you write as you are led. That's how I write too.

Different personality types, different experiences, different missions.

barbara

Kristina, here's an article I read awhile back on the abortion breast cancer link. Fairly new information. http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2010/jan/10010706.html

Hi, Kristina. I thought you (and other readers) might be interested in an excellent article by Erika Bachiochi, in which she states that research is undisputed that shows that for women (a) who have a history of breast cancer in their families and (b) abort their first pregancy before age 18, there is an "incalculably high" risk of developing breast cancer. This is contrasted with research that shows a generalized increased risk of breast cancer with abortion. The article discusses many other health risks associated with abortion, most of which never get discussed with a woman considering abortion. The article is here: http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/resource.php?n=403

You might want to see if you can confirm or corroborate her findings. I appreciate your desire to be prudent in claims, and I don't disagree with you. It's a shame, however, that those on the pro-abortion side don't have similar concerns. Planned Parenthood is the Philip Morris of abortion research, denying any link whatsoever between abortion and negative health outcomes. And we all know how the "inconclusive research" about smoking turned out.

Cheers!

For those who have been affected by abortion, there are some great resources to help! Surrendering the Secret (http://www.surrenderingthesecret.com/) or Forgiven and Set Free (http://www.forgivenandsetfree.com/) are the two resources our local pregnancy center make available. There are other women out there who have received healing from their abortion who are ready to help!

This is exactly what I was hoping - that you would offer more in depth info on what your gut tells you. Thanks for the links!

I know a lot of friends who have gotten abortions and I want to tell them to stay up to date on their breast exams. I also know that they would take it offensively and assume that I am judging them for their decision. I am very pro-life, so coming from me they would not receive that information well. I do not put it past anyone to hide information such as the truth on these studies. One thing I learned from statistics 101 is that studies can be manipulated. It all comes down to money. Uncovering the truth here would hinder the profits of the abortion industry as well as Non-profit groups like Susan G. Komen. Not to mention Susan G. Komen gives grants to Planned Parenthood...See where I am going with this? To these industries finding the root of the problem would destroy profits and future growth.

Think about it...how long did it take the Tobacco Industry to be exposed?
