Chicken Soup Story Call Out: grieving and recovery

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Grieving and Recovery
101 Inspirational and Comforting Stories about Surviving the Loss of a Loved One

This collection of emotional and inspirational stories will provide comfort and peace to those who have lost someone close to them. Grieving is a process that we go through, each in our own way. It feels overwhelming at times and like the pain will never end. While the hurt and sadness never completely fade, they will ease with time.

What helped you the most when you were grieving? Who were the people who helped you and what did they do? When did you know that you had finally 'turned the corner' on the road to recovery? What are you doing to support others? We hope that the stories in this book will offer comfort and guidance to our readers and help ease the journey to healing.

We are looking for true stories and poems written in the first person of no more than 1,200 words. Please do not send us a biography about someone who has died. Stories should not have been previously published by Chicken Soup for the Soul or other major publications.

Here are some suggested topics, but we know you can think of many more:

    Regaining strength
    Support and coping mechanisms
Coming to terms with your loss
    Providing support for others
    Reaching out and moving on
    A little laughter helps
    Appreciating life
    How faith helped you
Time heals - there is light at the end of the tunnel
... Any other topics that you think will provide solace, insight and peace to those who grieve

If your story is chosen, you will be a published author and your bio will be printed in the book if you so choose. You will also receive a check for $200 and 10 free copies of your book, worth more than $100. You will retain the copyright for your story and you will retain the right to resell it.

SUBMISSIONS GO TO http://chickensoup.com
Select the Submit Your Story link on the left tool bar and follow the directions.

DEADLINE IS MAY 31, 2010.

Chicken Soup stories are a great way to break into publishing - I have stories in 5 or 6 of the Chicken Soup series.  I know many of you have some stories to tell - just follow the directions they give you and you may end up published yourself!
