Nella Cordelia/Kelle Hampton update

nella.jpgAnyone been keeping up with the story of Nella, whose mother Kelle wrote the most beautiful birth story ever of a baby with Down syndrome?

From her blog today:

The Incredible, Edible Nella

From Babycenter.com:

At about three months, when she's placed on her stomach, your baby will lift her head and shoulders high...at this point she may amaze you by flipping from her back to her front, or vice versa.

From Downsyn.com

Your baby will learn to do all the things that other children learn to do but it will take her a little longer and it will take a little more patience on your part.

***********************************

At six weeks, check it:

Nella Rolls Over

...and she did it three times today! ...and then slept for five hours.

I almost sent you that link this morning. I thought Kelle's comments here were amazing and so encouraging to other mothers: "And I wish so badly I could go back to that devastated mama I was six weeks ago, scoop up my sobbing self in that hospital bed with my Rocky puffed-up face, wipe my tears, smile and tell myself, Oh, you just wait. You have no idea."

Okay......I wasn't going to comment on this post, but find that I must.

Being the curious one that I am, I wanted to know what was so special about Nella's story as to get a post here, so I clicked on the link and read. Now understand, I am so busy trying to live my life and take care of everyone that I really don't have time to read about someone else's life, but I did it anyway--and I'm glad I did.

I cried.

And then I clicked on the current/home page and read....and I cried.....and then at the bottom of that page I clicked on "older posts" and read....and I cried, and again and again and again.

While I really don't have time to be reading so many of Kelle's posts, I am thoroughly intriged with her writing (on life in general) and Nella's development. She, like you Barbara, is transparent and the way she views and lives life is just beautiful.

Thanks for sharing a real gem.
