Tiger Woods Nike ad - what do you think?
Anything for a buck?

The last line is "did you learn anything?"
"Why yes, I learned that I can run around and not be the wholesome role model I appeared to be and still not lose my big sponsorships! Thank you to all my fans for no repercussions to my professional life!"

I thought Nike had dropped him. I guess they can forgive too, just like everyone else. I think if I was a Nike exec I'd be thinking this ad is ingenious. In a way, it is. but when you really think about it, the purpose of the ad is not about Nike trying to help Tiger restore his reputation. it is about Tiger making money off the deal, and about Nike selling sneakers.

Ummm..... pointless and self-serving?

Disgraceful. I don't know his father, and maybe he would have been supportive and forgiving like this ad implies. But to use a deceased parent to garner sympathy from fans (and consumers) is just as much poor judgment as thinking wedding vows could be broken without consequence.
My mother is deceased and if I ever used her to justify my bad behavior, may I be called out.

I don't get it. I must be really stupid. Especially if the Nike catch phrase is "Just Do It".

I think what's sad is that Tiger signed off on it. I understand how many companies do anything for a buck, but for Tiger to use his own, deceased father for promotion is just disgraceful.

Really weird. How does this make me want to buy Nike products? Too manipulative for my taste. I wish he'd just go off into obscurity for awhile.

Brilliant capitalist advertisement. It's what most people wanted to say to him and knowing the father so well, that is the person who should definitely have said it to him. Time will tell if he has repented and will change his ways. I certainly hope so for his family's sake. In the meantime he is still an outstanding golfer. Nike recognizes that and doesn't want to lose business because of his failures. Hopefully there will be a win win for all. "We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God."
