American Idol wants your feedback

american idol logo.jpgThis season has been so different from previous seasons, I am a little embarrassed - as I recommended the show to my readers as a singing competition and a way of teaching the values of hard work and constructive criticism.

For readers who watched American Idol on my recommendation, I want to say I am sorry. I had no idea the show would be veering away from its traditional family-friendly format to include sketchy banter with Ellen DeGeneres and over-the-top acts like Lady Gaga.

Interestingly enough, American Idol's ratings have been going down/ Aparently they have noticed and are worried enough to find out why. Here is your chance to impact the future of American Idol:

American Idol Wants Your Opinion

Do you like Ellen DeGeneres as a judge? Do you think the judges' save is a nifty device for the show? Do you want the opportunity to sound off on what you like and dislike about American Idol? Well, now you've got a chance to do so...and the powers-that-be behind the series are listening.

American Idol has released an official survey asking viewers to detail their opinion on the show. The survey asks about the current season of the show (9), and asks about your reasons for watching. Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres, Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi and Ryan Seacrest are all listed as reasons for watching. You have the ability to vote on the strength of your enjoyment from each one.

Certain aspects of Idol, such as musical themes, mentors, voting and the judges' save also listed on the survey. You have the opportunity to vote on your level of entertainment derived from each. The survey contains many questions regarding guest judges as well, asking to you rate your enjoyment of each one who appeared on this season.

Read more at American Idol wants your opinion.

Please take the survey and make a difference in the future of the show. Pass this on to your friends and family via email, Facebook and blogs.

Love,

Didn't think Adam Lambert was so clean cut and family style. I don't like Idol as much this year because it seems to be sluggish and filled with too many other acts. Elle DeGen has done better than I would have expected; don't think she's the problem.

Lady Gaga, now that's a gal I knew when she was a high schooler. A Catholic high school gal who was in some productions with my Catholic high school son back then. She is one kid who really worked the circuits in NY, all of the coffee houses, bars, you name it, to get where she is. Gifted musically, beyond anyone I've ever met. Too bad she had to go to the drugs, the sex, the outrageous in her persona, as she has the IT factor on talent alone. She was a natural to pick for AI as someone young who "made it" in the industry, not needing a show like AI. Wonder how she would have done on it.
The NY music/performing arts scene is a tough one. I have a kid in it and wish he'd take another venue. Every vice in the world right there.

Barbara,

Not sure if you saw this either. It is just so very unfortunate that they cannot allow the show to just be an opportunity to showcase the talent of everyday Americans.

http://www.christiannewswire.com/news/4843313685.html

"It is laudable that the people involved with 'American Idol' want to help the poor," said LDI President Douglas R. Scott, Jr. "But it is tragic that they would choose to do so through groups like the Save the Children and the United Nations Foundation. These groups have far too much deadly baggage." Of course, what many people do not know, because "American Idol" has not chosen to mention it, is that Simon Cowell is the chief executive officer of International Save the Children. This is surely why Save the Children was selected as a recipient charity.

"'American Idol' should stop using the contestants to raise money for groups when they are keeping the activities of these charities a secret," Scott said. "'American Idol' should practice full disclosure and give those contestants who may wish to decline participation in 'Idol Gives Back' the opportunity to do so without repercussions."

"If you believe the plight of preborn children is as important as the plight of the poor, do not participate in 'Idol Gives Back,'" Scott urged. "We are caring people who want to do our part to help those less fortunate, but we will do so through organizations that do not view the killing of human beings as a 'solution' to poverty and other adult-created problems."

It is worth noting that "American Idol" recently supported a fund-raising campaign by Planned Parenthood of Los Angeles.
