Leftist racism: Black conservatives reject the race card
And while we're on the subject, here's something I posted on September 21, 2009:Leftist racism: Black conservatives reject the race card
Mary Baker, mother of seven writes in A Two-Edged Sword:
For Americans who have left behind racism, nothing the left says can bring them back to that place again. I left racism behind because it was the wrong path to take. It goes against the very fiber of my faith. It goes against the vision of our founders to see America united. It goes against the pleas of Dr. King, in have us all be able to live together, walking hand in hand. I never knew just how vicious and determined liberals are to destroy the spirit of this country. Is this how they hope to attain to their socialist views? They would at least need those who would benefit from socialism. Without racism, conservatives may begin to open the eyes of those who could benefit from its great principles the most. This is a catastrophe for the left.I've been sharing with you how exciting it is to see the emergence of conservative black thinkers and analysts through the power now provided by the alternative media.
These are people who truly have been oppressed - in that their voice has been denied for decades by what I am now calling the Tired Old Media (Uncle TOM?)
Mary continues:
The left's two-edge sword of racism attempts to keep both sides wounded. The best remedy to head off the liberals is allow their name calling to go through one ear and out the other. . . .The only individuals impacted by the Left calling Conservative whites racist, are liberal blacks. I would ask what is the Left afraid of? Could it be that the eyes of blacks are opening to their real enemy? I have been privileged to make acquaintances with a great number of black conservatives in the past weeks. Black conservatives are embracing their white brothers and sisters all over this country, and there are many blacks who may not have understood the principles of conservatism who are finding out that there is much to embrace. I do not feel like I am outnumbered any longer as an American conservative who happens to be black.

You can read more and find links to black conservative bloggers/commentators here and here and here.
I am excited by this development - which would make Martin Luther King proud! An authentic grassroots movement of engaged, thoughtful black brothers and sisters who are refusing to be led around by the professional race hucksters who've consolidated their power on the backs of the black community. We really need to pray for and support these people who are taking on the wrath of those who think they are the masters.
Mary, thank you for all you are doing!
Many readers will remember that that wasn't the end of the story.
Mary and I became friends and ended up on the Glenn Beck show together on September 25 (at YouTube in 5 parts) and October 5 to discuss the political issues we had in common with millions of other mothers.Because conservatives think in terms of issues, not racial divides.
Mary went on to found Conservative Moms for America and now writers for the Houston Examiner.

Goodness, of course there are black conservatives! I know many of them. A number of African Americans I know did not support Obama to the point of donating to McCain. The main reason for the ones I know, is the spectre of higher taxes which is inevitable for the higher income brackets. The color of money is the same for everyone.
However, that does not mean that there is not racism out there. Both ways. Obama has many supporters due to racism, and many who hate him due to racism.
