Father's Day Gift Ideas: TomTom, Flip Camcorder, NetFlix
If it's last minute and if you have no ideas and money to spend, here are some guaranteed to please.
Amazon's deal of the day is this TomTom - normally 229.95, now 119.95:
I got a garmin a year ago and it has saved so much stress. Instead of fumbling around and taking our eyes off the wheel to check directions, we just have to listen and maybe glance at the nearby display. I feel so much safer when the girls are out somewhere (in fact Maddy's accident was caused the other day by her looking at printed out directions instead of using the GPS). I kinda wish we'd waited though, because his traffic update feature looks really helpful.
There's also a Flip Camera. We've had one for a couple years and it is very handy. I got it for myself, but the men in my house - hubby, sons and sons in law - end up grabbing it to record whatever comes up when the family gets together. It is SO convenient.
And remember, it was a flip cam that brought down the institution known as Helen Thomas
Amazon is offering free two-day shipping too:
Last but not least - except in terms of initial expense - Netflix - which offers a free trial and plans as low as 8.99 a month.
We;ve used Netflix since they began - 10 or 12 years ago. If you love indy films, documentaries, foreign flicks and old movies, this is a perfect way to go.
I have other suggestions in my Mommy Moments - Celebrating Dads edition. Please sign up in the right hand sidebar if you'd like to get my free monthly newsletter which I strive to pack with fresh ideas and encouragement for my readers.
Dads enjoy it too!

TomTom is a poor fathers day gift idea. Navigation is available on many, if not all, smart phones. The technology has shifted, that's why the in-car units are so cheap now.
If you're going to spend a couple hundred backs, get a smart phone with navigation. Much smarter investment and cooler too.
Be VERY (VERY) careful when buying a Dad an electronic gift. Chances are what you think is cool is probably not what he wants. Better to run it by him and say you plan on getting [this]. He can fake being excited, but nothing matches the real deal.
