Maddy at National Right to Life in Pittsburgh
We're home from Pittsburgh - though not much time to tell about it :)
Maddy, Jonny and I were at the National Right to Life Conference - it's a 5 hour drive from us. We left late Wednesday night because Maddy had a rehearsal, so didn't get in until 2 in the morning - one of those moments when a hotel bed never felt so good :)
We learned a lot and met lots of interesting people - it will be interesting to see how these connections build. Maddy gave a presentation to the teens on Friday morning, which included a Power Point presentation (she's way ahead of me on this and I need to catch up!) - and singing:
She invited Jonny up for a duet of "Hallelujah" - the Leonard Cohen song she did for her American Idol audition. (You can see the American Idol clip of Maddy here at the 2:50 mark - and you can find many YouTube videos of Maddy here).
With our dear friends Becky Miller from Rhode Island Right to Life - and her sweet daughter Catherine:
With some of the teens who were at the session:
I think what I love about Maddy is that she is who she is no matter where she is. No special make-up or hair. What I saw was a 17 year old who wanted to deliver a message and connect in a genuine way with anyone God put in her path. I think it's the lack of focus on herself that gives her the confidence to do the things she's being asked to do.

I pray my girls turn out as strong and true to God and themselves as Maddy. You have raised such beautiful children and what a joy they bring you that is so evident in your blog posts. :) Thanks for sharing such inspiring stories!
