Obamas party hearty. McCartney bashes Bush
Nero fiddles while Rome burns:
HT: MOTUS
Or
- Your tax dollars squandered to please the Partyer-in-Chief
- No time for Arlington Cemetery, Arizona's Governor Brewer or finding solutions to the oil spill, but time to party down with aging rockstars.
- Some animals more equal than others (Animal Farm)
If Bush were in office 40some days into an oil spill and had taken 2 vacations, played golf and shot hoops, held several LAVISH parties - well, I don't know, what do you think the propaganda press would have to say about it?
And did you hear about McCartney's putdown of Bush.
How graceless and classless. A highschool dropout receiving an American award for his musical achievements chooses to use that proud moment for a stupid putdown of a former president who holds degrees from both Harvard and Yale and who was unafraid to release his college transcripts. Who governed the state of Texas and the United States of America.
The press has cultivated this myth of Bush being stupid for a long time. See Who Is Smarter, Kerry or Bush, which in 2005 measured the two and set the record straight.
But the sad truth is the bigger the lie and the more you tell it, the more it will be believed.
Still, even if it were true that we had a stupid president, since when did it become good manners to receive an American award saying "thank you" with one breath and "Your former preisident is stupid" with the next?
I can't seem to recall guests bashing former presidents until these ungrateful unworthy people began their occupation of the White House and their trashing of decency and dignity.
Obama's insatiable need to aggrandize himself by bashing Bush and encouraging others to do so reminds me of something Tripp always taught our kids:
Cutting off the heads of others to make yourself taller - something you just don't do.

REALLY APALLING! I continue to be amazed at how much B.H.O. gets a pass on his lavish parties and lack of leadership. November '10 and November '12 can't come soon enough!

Rude of McCartney. But that is his opinion of Bush just as you have opinions of our very well educated POTUS and first lady.
[Let me interrupt you here, Cath to say that the point wasn't that Paul McC shouldn't have opinions, but that it was classless for him to insert a gratuitous swipe at Bush while receiving an honored award as a guest at the White house.]
As you have often written in your blog, it's not the formal education that makes a wise man. One of the things that I am working on taking to heart is your views of college and formal education which I feel are wise beyond wise.
That McCartney is a musical genius without training and education is indisputable. His qualification for judging the performance and intelligence of others in fields that are not in music and entertainment...well, I don't know about that. He should keep his opinions on things that he knows well.
Both Obama and Bush are educated by the best of the best in our country.
[However, Obama is touted as an intellectual though we have seen no proof of his grades or educational performance - all we know for sure is that he READS a good speech. Bush has been smeared with lies - just as Reagan was - to smear him as stupid.
Doesn't make either of them wiser. A good example of how education does not make for good judgments and performance.

Barbara, can you educate me further? Has there ever been a president who has used the White House for such entertainment purposes in the past? It seems like this administration has a concert of epic proportions once a month. I don't recall hearing anything like this over the course of my life.

I found the comment he made about previous administration very inappropriate.
