8/28 and 9/11 DC Rallies - safe for families?
Hi Barbara,I really want to go to the Glenn Beck Restoring Honor Rally, but I have never been to Washington D.C. and I am wondering if its safe to take my kids to an environment that could be dangerous. What do you think?

Dear Donna -
Not only is it a safe environment, but an educational one as well. These are historic times our children are living through and those whose parents model civic sacrifice and involvement will grow up with that emblazoned on their hearts.
It's not what we say that matters - every child knows that words can be empty - but what we do.
They say a picture tells a thousand words. Look through these pictures I took at last year's 9/12 March on Washington - there are a lot more at my Photojournal (see link at bottom) which also offers commentary. Notice the cheerful mood - is it anything like what the ObamaMedia has portrayed?

I went to DC many years ago for a marriage rally. We did not yet have children yet at the time. After the rally, everyone went down to the subway, and it became overcrowded (dangerously so)--I saw a man lift a baby in a stroller up over his head, but people kept coming down on the escalators--someone shouted to use the emergency stop button on the escalator, and my husband was close enough that he did that.
It was a great trip overall--we came down from MA (those we sat near said they wouldn't hold it against us) so it was quite a trip for us.
Just thought I'd mention the bit about the escalator stop button; probably a good thing to keep in mind anytime one is using an escalator and there may be crowds in excess of what the designers of the facility expect.
