Loudoun County: first to declare war on Christmas 2010

grinch was right.jpgOur Loudoun County Board of Supervisors is flying high - literally, since our two weekly "newspapers" aren't interested in their taxpayer-funded trips to Germany and deals with globalist organizations which dictate how local governments should run our lives.

I will be getting to these stories soon, as I have just begun investigating them - and would appreciate any tips on items of interest to those of us footing the bills for our self-styled government jet setters.  Although MommyLife is read internationally, Loudoun County can count on me to start exposing what our own local Tired Old Media has been complicit in covering up.

But for now, we need to focus on Christmas, as our wannabe cutting-edge local machine has decided - once again - to deny our first amendment rights.  Last year, they waited 'til the last minute to ban holiday displays at the Leesburg Courthouse.  This year I think they're going for the distinction of being the first to declare war on Christmas.

Keep in mind, that though the scene of this battle is Leesburg, the town of Leesburg has nothing to do with this issue.  The Courthouse Lawn is County property under the jurisdiction of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, which backed down last year in the face of the public outcry stirred up by their ban on Christmas 2009.

Which brings us to Christmas 2010.  Our nation's heritage and traditions are under siege from every level of government - and in our schools.  We have also seen in the past year that our elected officials have collectively adopted an attitude of arrogance and tone-deafness which has turned our concept of government topsy-turvy.  Instead of a government of the people, for the people and by the people, we have government of and by and for the elected officials.  Did you have any idea you had financed the Board of Supervisors' trip to Germany?  Any idea what it cost?  I will do my best to find out that and more. . .

In the meantime, many of us need to put aside what we would normally be doing for the next week to impress on our high-flying supervisors the need to come down to earth and start worrying about whether they will be able to keep their seats in 2011 if they continue thumbing their noses at the citizens of this county:

On September 8, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors will be voting on banning holiday displays at the Leesburg Courthouse.

They will be hearing public input on September 7 (yes, that's right - also the first day of school - perhaps to discourage public attendance and media coverage)

Let's all do our part to bring the spotlight once again on the Board of Supervisors' War on Christmas

1) Sign the petition, and forward to all Loudoun County residents in your circle of influence - via blogs, email, Facebook.

2) Email the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors at bos@loudoun.gov

3) Attend the Loudoun Board of Supervisors public input session Tuesday, September 7, at 7:00 pm One Harrison Street, SE Leesburg. Call 703-777-0204 to be put on the speaker list.  You will have 2-3 minutes

4) Contact all media outlets: Loudoun County first in the nation to declare War on Christmas 2010!

And some of us may be ready to go further than this issue. Perhaps some of us are beginning to see it's just as important for us to see clearly what is going on at the local level and to ferret out Fat Cat politicians and replace them with people more like us.  Perhaps some Loudouners who never thought they had it in them will begin to run for office and perhaps a lot os us will support them.

Perhaps things could have rested if after we prevailed last year, our self-important Board of Supervisors had let it rest.  But now with the political landscape the way it is, perhaps this latest bit of arrogance will awaken the sleeping giant within Loudoun County.  I plan to devote as much time as I can to researching and exposing the facts about our Board of Supervisors.

I will be blogging - but also hoping someone will come up with some funds and staff for a conservative newspaper in Loudoun - something which will be very helpful as we go into the 2011 and 2012 elections.

Love,

Barbara, why is you county so focused on this issue? Don't they have enough pressing problems to address?

Good question.

It seems to be a power thing in a county where the clash between traditional, conservative natives and an influx of liberal "elites" comes out in issues like this.

Amendment 1 to the Constitution of the United States begins by stating, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". Either everyone gets to display or no one gets to display. If you choose the former, then you have to be comfortable with Wiccans, Athiests, Agnostics, and yes, even Muslims displaying their religion on public ground. if you can't stomach that, then you should choose the latter.

Dave -

I'm afraid you've mistakenly stereotyped me and many others who are fighting for holiday displays.

Everyone I know who supports the traditional displays has stated that they are comfortable with having all citizen-sponsored displays. No one has asked for Christian only. We are even willing to put up with the ridiculously tacky attempts to provoke religious people of all persuasions.

Were you also ok with the "Twelve Days of Christmas" spoof? Because I thought that was a bit over the top. Also, it was just one Supervisor who thought this should be brought back for review after it was decided that all comers could display back in December. You can thank Eugene Delgaudio for the resurrection of this issue.

liz - you are wrong. Eugene Delgaudio did not resurrect this issue. The BOS resurrected it in July and Eugene and I have been scrambling ever since to reawaken the crowds who were there last year - kinda hard at this time of year.

I did not see the 12 Days of Christmas. I knew that Loudoun's anti-Christians and anti-Jews in Loudoun would do their best to belittle and provoke the faithful. That did not interest me. I like to focus on the positive and let the opposition do their negative thing in peace.

Barbara,

My apologies - when I used the word "you", I was referring to "you" in the general sense, not you personally.

Someone is wasting a lot of time, energy and money focusing on this issue and wasting the residents' same. Wish those someones can be pinpointed and exposed. They don't have enough to do, it seems.
