Obama's 16 billion for teachers funded with Food Stamp $$
Obama's big speech yesterday, giving 16 billion to save jobs for teachers and public safety employees cut by states trying to balance their budgets - in which he vilified opponents as anti-child - was all a big shell game. Read the small print: his gesture and suck-up to unions was partially funded through food stamp money:Democrats, Advocacy Groups Blast Cuts to Food Stamps to Fund $26B Aid Bill

I'm not sure where I stand on this, but I can make one comment--
I feed my family on a LOT less than I am eligible for in food stamps, and we eat well. I don't have any special skills, I just get recipes and help from the internet.
If I were to apply for food stamps, I would more than double my grocery budget.
So perhaps this isn't as far-fetched as it might sound?

I agree, Emily. I'm not endorsing the food stamp program, just saying what a hypocrisy Obama's "generosity" is - robbing Peter to pay Paul.
Wow, I had no idea they gave that much for food stamps. When you think of that plus 2 years of unemployment benefits plus the unearned income credit - wow - there are a lot of people who've become dependent on the government.
