Obama keeps Blessed Mother's picture in his wallet?
From CatholicCulture.org:
President Obama always keeps Our Lady's picture in wallet, says First Lady
September 27, 2010First Lady Michelle Obama said last month that her husband "always carries a picture of Mary Help of Christians in his wallet." She made her remarks while visiting a house of the Salesian community in Ronda, Spain.
Under the title of Help of Christians, Our Lady is the patroness of the Salesian order and is particularly venerated in China and Australia. Pope Pius VII instituted a feast day in her honor following his release from imprisonment under Napoleon.
I'm guessing he better get a bigger wallet if this is part of a new campaign strategy. . .

I'm guessing he wants to keep all of his bases covered since during the campaign it was told he carried some kind of idol in his pocket(can't remember if it was Buddist, Hindu or what). Since he refused to sign the Born Alive bill while in the IL senate, I can't imagine he actually reveres the Blessed Mother. I'm guessing one of Michelle's speech writers is probably the actual person who carries the picture of Mary and she just co-opted it to Barry.

If he does, it may be the start of a conversion.... Mary prays for him too. Hopefully he will answer the call of grace.

I often wonder why people are always so quick to judge and think negative about things like this? Who are we to judge others? I know that the blessed mother prays for him and all of our leaders in hopes that they will make the right choices in guiding our great country. Even though President Obama repeatedly has professed he is a christian he is still accused of being muslim. God bless those that judge and those that lead us.

I suspect it's more of his attempts to continue wooing Catholics, without whom he could not have been elected.
But like Chantal, I hope it's true and Our Lady works his family's conversion. No matter how much we dislike a person, he/she is one of God's children, too, and God doesn't want to lose a single one of us to the devil. Go, Mary!

A lot of "scary" looking people wear crucifixes too, but I don't typically see those same people in church on Sunday. That's not saying that none of them go. But, I am saying that you can carry or wear what you like but that doesn't by itself make you a Christian. I look at his actions and I still say he's not a good Christian or he's not a Christian at all. That's my opinion - not a judgment - which I feel entitled to make as I form decisions about who to vote for and who not to vote for. But I have no problem asking the Blessed Mother to pray for him and convert him/change his heart!

Patrick, we can judge a tree by its fruits. That's biblical. God doesn't ask us to ignore all the signs. Carrying a picture (which I doubt very much he does) of the Blessed Mother doesn't make him a Christian anymore than me sitting in the garage makes me a car.
I'm getting to the age where I call 'em as I see 'em.
