Pandora Radio - loving this music resource

pandora2.pngI am in love! Already blessed by a bunch of musically-curious kids with more interest in Regina Spektor than Lady Gaga who love to share their indie discoveries, I finally found a little time to check out Pandora - The Music Genome Project - and do some discovering of my own.

Do you know about Pandora? You type in a genre, a song, an artist you like - and they play song after song that should match your taste. If you don't like something, you thumbs down it and it's gone. So you can end up building a channel of songs you love.

I typed in the Avett Brothers first and was so delighted with the mix of songs that came up - from modern artists like the Decemberists (new to me) and Yael Nalm (Maddy had played her for me) to old favorites like Bob Dylan and John Prine.

I went ahead and paid 36. for a subscription to avoid the ads. Well worth it!

I love it that singers and musicians are no longer dependent on record companies - and neither are we :)

Love,

I have a love/hate thing with Pandora. I *love* the access to countless indie artists, but I *hate* that after I pass through about a dozen songs, it tells me I can no longer listen to that channel due to their contract. It burns me every time.
I love the Decemberists. Check out Sea Wolf & Brandi Carlile (two faves off the top of my head). And Muse, particularly "Uprising" and the entire album "The Resistance". That should be the banner song for the Patriot movement...I listen to it often and cannot believe how perfect the lyrics are for the times.
