Christmas movies for the family

In building this list, I've looked for family-friendly movies. Each of these is available at Netflix and maybe your local library. I've linked to Amazon so you can read the synopsis and customer reviews. Besides, with Blockbuster charging nearly $5 rentals and DVDs as low as 6.99, you might as well buy something you will want to watch with your family each year. You can have a collection of Christmas movies as well as books that you get out only in December with your decorations.

Enjoy!

Love,

Thanks for putting this list together, Barbara. That is a great idea to have these packed away with the Christmas decorations. We do have a collection of books that only come out at this time of year. I think I'll buy a few of these movies and do the same thing!

don't forget "Come to the Stable" with Maureen O'Hara!

And "Prancer" with Sam Elliot http://www.amazon.com/Prancer-Sam-Elliott/dp/B00005N7Z0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1291841356&sr=8-1 is a sweet Christmas film.

One comment: a friend of mine saw the new Jim Carrey version of Christmas Carol and said that the ghost were very scary and freaked him out. I don't think I'd have my kids (under 10) watch it from that review.

Did you know that Blockbuster has changed their rates? I saw a sign at our Blockbuster advertising "new rates - 99 cent, 3-night rentals!" They're finally getting the picture, and captitalism once again works its magic, with competition from Netflix & the like naturally lowering prices. I think it's great. I still love Netflix, though I'm disappointed that they've recently adopted a rate hike.
Anyway, nice list. We watch a few of these yearly.

Does Meet Me in St. Louis count as a Christmas movie. I love that one!

Don't forget the great stop-motion 'cartoons'

I must confess- I never liked A Christmas Story- I think the mom's hair really ruined it for me- it's supposed to be in the 50s, but her hair is early 80s....

Yes, I also love Meet Me in St. Louis this time of year.

For some reason, I am not able to see the lists on your posts about movies and books. Do I need to do something to unlock them somehow? Thanks!

Hi Ronni -

I noticed that one day while using my son's laptop - which is why I know the answer to this. When I asked him, he said he has some program that blocks ads. You would need to remove that at least temporarily to see any of the Amazon links in my posts.
