Meaningful Christmas Gifts - through WorldVision
Give a life-changing gift in the name of someone specialWith five kids in public school - including four with special needs - the list of teachers, assistants, principals, coaches, specialists, therapists, and bus drivers I want to remember in a special way at Christmas can be overwhelming. Can you imagine the line up of little gift bags? I have done it in the past, but always seem to forget someone. A few years ago I decided to go for something more meaningful.

Each year since through World Vision's Christmas Catalog, I've ordered something, then downloaded the cards they provide and sent them to school for the teachers.
World Vision is a great alternative for gift-giving. Especially for the person who has everything. Five years ago the Curtis family gave up Christmas and instead sent a large sum of money to World Vision to build a hut for a family of orphans - much more memorable than any presents we really didn't need.

Surfing the Internet for different gift ideas this Christmas, I was overwhelmed with tons and tons of gift suggestions. But this blog inspired me more. Yes, helping hungry children and families get their nourishment makes Christmas more meaningful.

I've been a strong supporter of World Vision for years. I've promoted them on my website, donated through their gift catalog, and still sponsor a child through them.
But I was disturbed to learn this year that they have taken sides against Israel in the ongoing West Bank dispute, describing them as "occupiers" and the Palestinians as victims. http://www.ngo-monitor.org/article/world_vision_international_s_pro_palestinian_agenda
Discover the Networks has a long write up about the anti-Israel postions they have recently taken: http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6592
It's very disappointing. I will continue to sponsor our World Vision child (I'm not willing to abandon him), but I will no longer support World Vision in any other capacity.
For a Christmas Gift Catalog, I now use the one offered by Gospel For Asia: http://www.gfa.org/gift/
