It really lacks any respect for families. I decided a while ago that it is hard to be family focused when our lives had to spin around someone else's schedule. We homeschool, so mine will have school both days :)

Looks like a four day weekend for the Curtis Family!
We used to pull our kids out of pubic school in the winter when we lived in MN and come to CA to spend a few weeks with family.
I would get all their homework and fax it back to teachers if they wanted. Our kids never fell behind and had an educational experience seeing and experiencing life that could never be duplicated in a classroom.
My response when people would ask us "What about the kids and school?" ...
"They are our kids!"
